MD Diagnostic Software
Hi. I tried searching for info about diagnostic software, but came up with a lot of info and not all neccessarily helpful. Basically I'd like some software that I could install on a laptop, get an interface cable, and be able to read codes and also change settings (for example XENON = PRESENT). I don't want to break the bank on this so original MB STAR/DAS/Whatever is not what I am looking for.
I found the Carsoft multiplexer on eBay, and asked if it comes with the computer software too, but go no response yet. Does anyone use this? Is it worth it? What do others on this forum use and recommend?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Good luck to you both. If it works, I'm sure many people will jump on it just to change some settings on their own without a Star Diag.
I couldn't tell you yes or no if it will work or not. All I could tell you is that Star Diag is a TON of money, so unless you're ballin' and can drop the money on something like that, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try (then again, I don't even know if it would do any damage).

I've been looking on tradekey.com for some stuff (not car stuff)and by chance I've seen a gazillion star diagnostic systems that people are looking to sell. New ones and older ones. I know they're expensive but almost all of them didn't show prices...just thought I'd add that in case people were looking....

I got a response from the eBay seller....
Apparantly it comes with all cables and PC softare. Don't know how good it is, but it's not too much money. Don't know if I'm ready to take the plunge. Anyone else have something like this? How good are these non-MB diagnostic tools?

Not worth it, waste of time & money
I finally got it and as far as I can tell, it is not woth it for the following reasons:
1. Software is not legit, I contacted Carsoft and they do not support it.
2. The multiplexer turns on but it only recognize one channel out of the 16 pins for OBD-II. I opened it up to find a board with all the S/N removed.
COnclusion:
Do not waste your time and the $140 for it.
