W203 150,000 mile club

I was almost going to buy another car to commute as I
was concerned about something major going wrong.
Glad to hear all is well.
I suppose I will have to
a. buy a new battery
b. replace the alt (rebuild actually)
c. rebuild the Komp
at some point....
Do b and c at the same time I suppose as I've read you have to remove the
Komp to do the alt. Now that I've done it once, I know what to expect.
Since I'm up on all the normal maint, the only thing that worries me is the tranny. E, you still on the original tranny? I forget is that an auto?
How many times have you flushed it?
My car is running strong. Anyone notice the increase in power with the cooler weather? Oh yeh.....
Seats are fine, no reason to replace, but again, thats a function of maint.
You need to replenish the leather with conditioner every 3-6 months if you don't want cracks. Plus it feels awesome afterwards.
Also, need to order a new coilpack as I replaced a bad one with a used one.
116K miles and going strong.
E, whats a DTC erase!?
If you are keeping up on maint. it makes it so much easier, you can discount those things as problems.
BTW- Fuel filter is an every 60K miles thing.
Technically, there may have been some before me. Not sure. Whiz Kid? Where you at?
Car is doing well. All convenience items are still working. Seats, mirrors, etc. Minor annoyance are a climate vent that sometimes puts my A/C on the floor, and a recurring Secondary Air Injection that can stick. Clears up with a DTC erase.
Plans for the futre include fuel injector cleaning and blueprint, installing a new cat with the Supersprint exhaust that has laid in my warehouse for some two years.
Ohh and Phil, that hatch is still not fixed.

Alt.?
$400 in parts?
Was that including the battery?
You must have done what I keep suggesting.
Have the original alt rebuilt, not replace it, and pocket the $1000 in savings.
(People spending $1200 on an alt replacement, local shop said they'll rebuild it for less than $200. Brushes would be likely all thats needed, and that would be even less)

DTC erase is when you use and OBD II reader to get the code, then erase it. Usually the button is called DTC erase. With it being cold in so call, The first few miles I have to drive delicately to get the car to warm up without the air valve sticking.

Original engine. Maybe the stratospheric redline has something to do with its longevity. Third transmission though. It may look like the dickens, but it continues to earn its keep. Can’t hardly send it down the river now.

Retrieved the C today from MB of SB after their fourth attempt to make the seat modules behave properly. It was the only work I’ve ever authorized at the dealership. About $300. Since they furnished and installed the lame parts, it’s been on their dime for the subsequent attempts. The first two failures were causing the battery to drain. Now its memory function is again, well, dysfunctional. Since I’m 6’3”/210# and the Mrs. is 5’4”/***, she was none too pleased. Performance parts = no care. Broken seat memory = FIX IT!
I’d contemplated looking for a clean Camry to keep the peace. j/k
Late this afternoon, the SA calls to give me the update, “It’s not your module that’s causing the problem; your car has a faulty Electronic Ignition Switch.” Sigh. “We are going to goodwill it for you…they’ll be no charge. Can we reschedule a follow-up appointment, at your convenience, when the parts arrive?” Holy Toledo! Mind you, mine’s been out of warranty for almost two years.
He volunteered a copy of the EIS DTB (P-B-80.57/38b) along with the other paperwork involved in the repair. If any South Bay area locals need a sharp (and mod friendly) Service Advisor, you are welcome to send a PM for contact information.
Hopefully I can make it to 150000, that would be sweet.

This translates to almost 320K miles ...
I can tell you that except one thing I've reported here on the forum (https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...-cdi-w203.html) there were no major issues. All normal tear and wear that were handled via my Indy garage. From time to time I refurbish or replace parts that have wear marks on them but mostly nothing out of the ordinary.
My Benz isn't fancy or fast like most of the ones I see here but where I live it's hard to have fun with your car (no place to put the pedal to the metal and everything's so expensive). Still I bless the fun I have driving a Benz.
Too few ~$7000 cars can show their taillights to justify upgrading.
Finally ditching my 240,000-mile GMC for a fresh one.
None of the neighbors are likely to notice any difference during 06:00 workaday sorties...until its aftermarket exhaust goes on.
