Can a tall person fit?

I'm 6'6" tall, and seriously thinking about a
sport coupe. I can fit in one at the dealer. But
I wonder how it will be long term. Is there anyone out there about my height who has driven one for a year or so?

This may sound silly, but sit on the floor with your back against the wall, and have someone measure your seated height. Although I'm only 6'1", I have a fairly long torso. My seated height is about 39". I can sit in my coupe with the Panorama roof with a little more than an inch from my head to the roof. The seat is somewhat reclined, but not a whole lot. For a car without the Panorama roof, add a couple of inches.

I agree with Lynn, it all depends on your torso measurements. If your height is all in the legs, you should have no problems. 'Course, leg room for anyone seated behind you might be minimal.

If you can fit in it at the showroom, I believe you would be fine. I find the biggest problem for taller people is getting in or out. The Coupe's door is longer than the sedan, and ideal for long-legged. Try sitting in the sedan for comparison. You'll see the opening is more constricted than the Coupe.

get the sedan body style

i am 6'6" as well and thought the coupe was way too cramped. however, with the power seats and steering wheel in the sedan, plus the extra inch or so of legroom makes a huge difference and is so worth it in the long run. i think if you get the coupe you will seriously regret it and end up shopping for a new car again soon afterwards.

Front leg room, C230k: 42.0 in
Front leg room, C240: 41.7 in

Front head room, C230K: 38.5 in
Front head room, C240: 38.9 in

Subtract a couple of inches of head room for moon roof.

I'm 6'3" and I have about 4-5" over my head. That's in a C230K without the panorama roof and the seat all the way down. I think you should be OK unless you have an unusually long torso.

Cheers, BT

Just to clarify, I agree with Lynn's comment that the Coupe and Sedan are essentially identical in the seating position. I've sat in both and can't tell any differences, once you are situated.

My comment concerned the ease of entry. The door opening on the Coupe is longer (front to back) because the door is longer than the sedan. Hence, I believe the Coupe's door is more accomodating for taller people.

That's true Bob, unless you are parked next to another car. Then the longer doors mean you have less room to get out because they don't open as wide. That can be a problem unless one is very thin.

i'm 6'3" and i fit in my coupe fine. i actually thought the sedan was a bit harder to get out of since i put my seat back so far, the B piller got in my way.

exactly, session, and that sedan B-Pillar is very wide (front to back), especially the lower half (from rub strip down). Just guessing, but I believe the B-Pillar is extra beefy for improved crashworthiness. That's good, but not as good for ingress/egress. I'm 6' even, and I have my seat back, too. I rubbed the rubber frame seal so much getting in and out that it had to be replaced after one year. The old seal was plain rubber, but the new one is cloth covered, so it doesn't wear as much.

Lynn, you're right about the long door thing in tight quarters. But the Coupe can't be as bad as most mid '70's AMPOS iron. I had a two-door '73 Plymouth Satellite, whose 8" thick doors were so long and heavy, it was nearly impossible to get out.

A friend of mine who is 6'11" sat in both driver's and passenger side of my C240 - he said he felt okay in both seats. He said he had just enough head and leg room once adjusted. Although, no one could sit behind him. The B-pillar was also a bit of an obstacle to maneuver around.

Hopefully he makes enough cash to afford an S-class. This is the only car I've ever been in where I could put the seat so far back that my feet couldn't reach the pedals.

My friend drives a Harley Davidson F150 super crew cab. I dont think there are any front leg room issues with those - especially with the adjustable pedals.

Ahhh, that should work.

For some reason I never even considered a huge pickup. Although, these can get pretty expensive as well - my friend spent around $38K for his Dodge Ram turbodiesel.

Cheers, BT

I too have a long torso - 6'4" and 31" inseam. The coupe has been an absolute dream as far as space is concerned! I came off a 1998 M3 - and this has way more room even though overall it is a smaller car.
