Aftermarket Heated Seat Mod link...feasable on W203?
Found this link on the web. I don't see why it can't be done on a w203. Is it too crazy to take apart the seats like this.

Heated seats are definately a doable mod, just add the heating element pads, add the wiring harness and switches. What's really cool is someone added CLK seats which are very nice and usually have heating elements in them.

I want to actually do what the guy did on that link but with aftermarket stuff. It doesn't look to complicated. I'm just wondering if the seats will be the same as it was after a skin it.

Why wouldn't they be. The trick with upholstery is keep the vinyl warm so it's more flexible, stretchy. If you don't trust yourself, find a local auto upholstery shop to do it for ya except the wiring, you can do that yourself. There's a guy by me that does a lot of custom work for hot rod interiors, he would do it for ya and maybe add some padding if you want to countour the seat to fit you better. You may want to put your location in your profile so people know where you are at and may recommend a local person.

Ok. That's good to know. I will do more research on it before I actually do this. I'm pretty handy so I should be able to do this on my own. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

I used the factory switch row, with factory wiring, and ordered the factory pins and plugs for the pad side. Then ordered the carbon pads for under the leather. The back is easy, the bottom I removed center stitch row installed the pads and restitched the seam.

Do you recall how much you spent total? How much were the heat pads themselves? Restiching sounds like a b**ch. Is the leather glued to the foam initially? Sorry for all the questions..

About $100 a side, Its not to bad, just did while watching TV. No its not glued. The only thing I would do is put the sticky side facing the foam. The heat pad instructions had you put it on the leather. I think it would sit better the other way.

Ok thanks. 1 last question. $100 per heat pad right? OK 2 questions. Were they OEM or after market pads?

Aftermarket, but the same used in high end cars. I had the link, I will try and look for it. It was $100 per seat, two pads and switch. I didnt use the switch because I used the Mercedes switch row and harness.

I asked SUNIL about this last week. With the aftermarket heating pads and the factory buttons, i am thinking it's going to be way over $200.
You can always email him for a quote, maybe he could send you a "kit" with everything needed?
Good luck

$135 for switch row
$45 harness
$25 for factory plug parts
Or you could use the switch that comes with the kit and install it on the side of the seat. www.heatedseatkits.com/index.html

I looked on the link and there are about a 10 different ones to use. Which one did you put in?
When I emailed them they said to use the extreme heat one which is the $140 one, they said that is the one that gives off significant heat, the other ones might not be warm enough
As I understand it the seat covers have a stitched in foam pad, can I put the heater below it or do I have to rip open all the stitching and put it above the foam pad next to the leather? I am not talking about the main foam structure of the seat

Curious why someone that lives in S. Pasadena, CA would need seat heaters!!?? A little soft aren't we? If you were living in North Dakota, or Minnesota I would fully understand. Similar to the thread of someone wanting to install a heated steering wheel in Texas

I live in California also and I'm not just doing it so my car feel more luxurious but I'm also doing it for the ladies that sit in my car...haha. I'm so thoughtful.

when u get in the car at nite and temp is low 50s or high 40s, it is useful!

Or when you go to the So Cal mountain resorts and it's 17F (last night). Here's a link of someone that did aftermarket heaters on his SLK, maybe useful if you plan on going that route.
