OK, a multi meter is an electronic tool that is used to measure volts, ohms(resistance), continuity, amps, ect. One would use the multimeter to measure the ohms (resistance) on the bulb and replaces it with a resistor (electronic device that control the flow of electric). If the resistor and the bulb has the same resistance to the flow of the electricity to the bulb; the resistor would "trick" the vehicle to believe that the bulb is still installed. Hope that helped.

To those with euro impact strips...(install help?)
I've been told that the simplest way to avoid the corner lights shining under the car or melting the bumper is to wrap the bulbs with high temperature black tape. I went to Kragen auto parts yesterday, and the worker told me the best thing would be electrical tape, but it says it's safe up to 170 degrees or something and I'm thinking the bulb must get hotter than that. I went ahead and bought the electrical tape because there wasn't anything else in there that looked like it would work better, but before I actually do this I wanted to check with others who may have had experience with specific tapes (positive or negative). I wanna do it right the first time, so any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated.

the bulbs are just 5W bulbs. i bought high temp metal tape and wrapped it around the bulbs. they have been like that for about 7 - 8 months now without any bulb warning lights going off. i havent had a problem with them. as a matter of fact my bumper is off my car since it's at the body shop and i looked at the bulbs and they look fine. the tape hasnt melted it is still wrapped around the bulbs. i dont remember the brand, but i did buy it at kragen. it is silver looking tape, almost like aluminum that is sticky on one side.
