My new car 2006 C230 sports / First thread!!

I got my 2006 c230 with 25k miles 3 weeks ago from toyota dealership for $19,000 + tax and fees. Loved the car, comfy and quite. Just to give a lil background my previous car (still have it) is a 2005 rsx-s with a lot of mods, run 13.3 on drag radial. I had it for 3 years and decided to get a luxury car for change. I'll be selling the rsx after i part it out.

I'll definitly do an oil change/ filter next weekend, just to make sure since i dont know the history of the car. Is there anything else i need to check or maintain? The screen says that i need a service A in 10k miles... whats that mean??

There's some minnor issue like the car wil unlock it self while Iam driving and rattle on stearing wheel/ dash board area. I'll bring it to the dealer when i have time.

Heres some pics of my rsx and c230!!

a quarter mile at a time
service A indicates the lesser of the two service intervals. pretty much means your next oil change is in 10K miles. Remember, MB uses full synthetic Mobil1 and members here have verified that going 13.5K/1yr does not harm the engine with use of the factory fleece filter.

Nice car and congrats!!!!!!

good choice. What options do you have on the C230 and what are your plans with it?

Hopefully, you got the Operator's Manual and the Maintenance Schedule with the Car. There are 2 primary service intervals "A" and "B". They alternate at 13,000 mile intervals. So, it looks like "B" was performed 2,000 miles ago and "A" is due in 11,000 miles.

If you go to the Dealer, be prepared to pay about $300 for "A" and maybe $500 for "B". If you DIY, then the cost will be under $100 for parts, fluids, etc. At various mileage intervals there will be an extra item or 2 that needs attention, beyond the basic oil change and fluid checks.

Coming up at 39K is a Transmission service, which is not really a DIY task. Be prepared to pay about $600 for the tranny service. It is the only scheduled tranny service, so there is probably a good reason.

You'll probably need tires at around 35K, if they are originals.

Congrats on the new ride.

$19k for an '06 with 25k miles?????? That sounds awfully cheap to me. I hope that our cars have not depreciated that much allready! Now I'm depressed!

Just checked Kelly Blue Book and it has this car list at $22k trade in and $26 retail. Is it that far off, or did this guy just get an awsome deal?

Dont be depressed, I just got a good deal, I can't believed my self also when I saw the add on autotrader. Retail price is 25k but toyota can't sell it so they lower the price bigtime. Its clean title and the previous owner trade it for a highlander. Put down 4k and finance it for 4 years, my monthly came down to $410 a month.

Thanks for all the help guys. What if the previous owner didnt do the service b an he just reset the service b message.... Can he do that? I so have the manual so I'll check it out.

Its a 6 speed, no sunroof, no hid and no heated seat. But I'm ok with that. Future mods would be HID and OZ 18" black rims. If I get a coiliver will it ride harsh and bouncy? I'm loving the ride comfor. Is there coiliver out there that will lower my car, improve corner handling without sacrificing ride quality for DD? And what brand of Hid and website do you recommend?

Service B

I'm heading in tomorrow for the service B maintenance (which I hope includes a reach around from what I read), is there anything in particular I need to pay attention to when reviewing the final bill? I'm expecting $400-500, and willing to pay for the service since I do not have the time or skills to complete the regular maintenance on my own. The list doesn't seem too complex, but I don't know what the labor costs are, which I assume are ridiculous.

I've never worked with the dealer before, and I never took my prior car to a dealer because I could get a better deal at the neighborhood shop. New to MB vehicles, any suggestions or information is helpfull. Thanks for the patience with a new MB owner.

You should call around, they have pre-set prices for the regular service intervals.

Do your research before you buy the car. Or else we'll see you posting a new thread titled "Maintenance on these cars is [I]that[I] expensive?" from you later down the road.

Service A is an oil change and inspection $200-300.

I did my research before I bought the car. I live just outside Washington, DC, and everything here is above average in cost vs. the national average. My purpose for asking was to see what the rest of the country might pay.

FYI: $660 was their price, other dealer in the area was $650. Found a couple things to fix under warranty, which was the main reason I went to a dealer. I just bought the car in February, and had yet to visit a MB dealer to give it a once over.
