Check Engine Light..........
.........decided to come on for the first time tonight. Merry Christmas to me, eh.
Anyone have any ideas? I haven't changed my air-filters in my car since I bought it new (Sept 2005), and the car is currently at 27k miles. Would a dirty air filter throw the light on?
The engine idles quietly, and runs fine. I did notice that the engine SLIGHTLY runs a bit harder than usual during acceleration.

Worthless guesses without the error code. Hook up to an OBD II scanner and get the error code. Clear it/them and see if it/they return. Then come back with the error code. All the CEL does is tell you 'something' is wrong.

The car didn't know it was Christmas, it was born in Germany where they celebrate the holiday on Dec 6th. It's probably something minor like the vacuum line that rots on these motors. It's under warranty, enjoy the loaner.

My guess is you've got carbon build up, but it could be a number of things including a loose gas cap. I've had this annually, but I have been using Chevron with Techron since I had it fixed last time. I realize you have the V6 and I have the M271 I-4, but in the owner's manual it states to use gas with some kind of cleaning agent like Techron or at least treat the engine regularly with a similar product and it even provides a part number. I am curious to see if my car makes it through the winter with this crap gas they use this time of year. Good luck and please post what the cause of the CE light was.

Haha, I spend my entire days lately dinking with linux, I need a break from that stuff. Unfortunately my boss thinks that break means I can now work with Solaris. Nothing gets more confusing than working half the day on linux and half on Solaris.
