SI ECU tune in SoCal
#26
OK. So, it's been a week since I got my ECU tuned with the SI software. Here are my thoughts.
Power - We all know that there are various ECU tunes out there. Powerchip is the other big one and it also advertises larger HP gains. I went with the SI tune beacause although it's down on peak HP numbers, the TQ numbers are higher. Although I haven't seen dyno charts of both, this most likely means that the SI tune was done to give a broader, fatter power curve. Driving the car around town reflects this as it seems to have gained quite a bit down low and a bit less at full boil. The car feels very strong from about 1,800rpms and up.
Drivability - This was the only thing I was nervious about when getting an ECU tune done. I'm glad to report back than other than the increase in power, the car behaves no differently than before. It dosen't sputter or feel any different at idle. There are no unusual sounds and no CEL.
Big thanks goes out to K1, SI and Gintani for my ECU tune!!!!!! I love it and the only issue is I want to go back in the car and take it for another spin!

Haha, nice average MPH and MPG. I'd be a bit happier though if the needle to the left was pointing at the 140 or higher. Especially knowing you were taking pictures while driving that fast... that would be BA.
Instead of making a new topic... Would getting an SI ECU tune be worth it on my C240? The claims are about 20HP and 20ft/lbs tq more than stock if tuned for 93. Considering it only has 168HP and 177TQ (off the top of my head) that would be a pretty good increase % wise. I've read other threads on the subject, but was unable to find one where someone had their C240 tuned and posted results (real and/or butt dyno).
Anyways, glad to see your enjoying the tune E.

the road was pretty flat for the most part. basically I reset the counter when I was about 120mi from Phoenix. They were pretty much ideal conditions though. I'd say realistically, I would average 31.5mpg highway. Now with the ECU tune, I don't think the gas mileage has gotten any worse, but I have a much greater tendancy to drive the car harder. All things being equal, I think the gas mileage is about the same.
