They other day on my way home this acura 3.2TL pulled up beside me with this guy about in his 40's i just look over like i always do to see if there anything worth seeing. As i look over he revs im like this old **** want to race so i took my esp off and was ready to go the light turned green and we both took off it 1st then my chirped the tires in 2nd after that i was just in front of him ever gear i would change the farther away id get i got a car lenght with in a .25 mile.....

This is for all The coupe haters hahaha Ive only been destroyed once bye a Mustang GT.. I can beat any normal stock mustang out there.

I even took off on a supra he just beat me in the end because he have more top end speed my **** governed out a 132mph.... and this is on a very long two land down hill. Its a very long straight away.

do u have auto or 6spd? stock or mod? 3.2TL is 225hp and similar torque i believe and only comes in auto, although if it were a Type-S then its 260hp and possible 6spd as well....nice kill though just curious as i considered a TL/CL before my coupe.

What's the point here? We all know that ccoupes and 240s are slow, and that 320s are marginally not as slow.

That is a very difficult post to read because it is barely literate. It is good to see that MBs have become more accessible, even to the illiterate. A high school education should not be a requirement for MB ownership, that is snobbery!

What modifications do you have to improve on the stock 0-60 time of 7.5 seconds? Because with that accelerative force, you won't be blowing away many cars who are really trying to race you. It doesn't take a Mustang GT to do 60 in 7+ seconds - that is very average these days.

Its the six speed and u can beat most cars with this car the way it is u just need to know how to drive it. I beat that acura off the line his tires started spining my tires didnt.. Ive also seen a porshe get beaten by a civic.. so lay off the comments and the comment about take it to a track u tell me how many people u see a 1:30 in the morning on the highway i dont dont see many. i might like to go fast but im not here to kill anyone.. Putting Nos in to engine isnt safe and there is people putting it in to **** VW getting a total of 465hp on car that only weights 2700lbs if that.. Just to let u know i can even keep up with a clk430 so its a matter of how u drive ur car its not about the numbers all the time...

There are few people on the street at 1:30 in the morning, but not zero. Moms, dads, sons, daughters are on the street late at night. Few people who killed others at 1:30 in the morning intended to do so. Your intentions are not dangerous to others, your behavior is.

0-60 in 7.2
and 1/4 in 15.3

So i dont think the coupes are slow.
They are not speed monsters but they sure have good pick up

Yeah, I agree. Since when did 0-60 in 7.2 seconds with a 15.3 1/4mile time, and a 132mph(149 actually without the limiter) top speed become 'slow'?

Slow is 10 sec to 60. Slow is drag racing with your mom's CRV. Average would be 8-9 seconds nowdays. I find it amusing that a certain 240 owner is calling anything slow.

I would never say that the Hatchback is slow. I've never said that.

But, I would also most definately not call it "fast" (just like I would of course not call a C240 fast), at least not in acceleration.

Road & Track publishes its road test results each month.

They tested the C230 manual transmission at 0-60 in 7.6, 1/4 mile in 15.7.

Is that "fast"? I wouldn't call that "fast." Not slow, either, though.

If it is fast, then here are some of the other "fast" cars as tested and published by R&T:

Nissan Sentra SER (manual) 7.3
Pontiac Grand Prix (automatic) 7.6

Unless you are counting SUVs and true economy cars (4 cylinder Hondas, Sentras, Toyotas, etc. costing $14,000), I'd say that 0-60 in 7.6 seconds is very average.

Its good that you can kid yourself into thinking that a stock C230 manual can "smoke" stock 323 and 325 manuals. As long as YOU believe that - that's all that really matters.

The 2002 325 manual does 0-60 in 7.1 seconds. If you "smoked" him in your Hatchback, he is NOT a "good driver." To the contrary, he is an awful driver to have been "smoked" by a clearly slower car.

Other than this ridiculous thing with calling a hatchback a "coupe," (and not only misusing the word, but on average abusing it 3 times in each sentence), I don't have any problems with the C230. Oh, I guess also the unrealistic impressions so many people have for it - i.e. "blowing" away anything this side of a Mustang GT in stoplight races, "smoking" 325s, beating S2000s (yeah, right!) etc. etc. etc.

As a "sports car," the Hatchback is a moderately powered, overweight car with average acceleration. Why do so many insist on holding it out as something it is not?

Actually in the latest Car and Driver, they test the S2000 against the Z, Mustang, and TT. They said that the 0-60 time of 6.3 was with a hole shot dropping the clutch just below redline. And unless you want to do that, they said the time is not far from the 5-60 time of 7.6. I was kind of surprised, but if this is true, a Coupe should be a pretty good match for the S2000. It depends on the drivers of each car and how much they use the clutch. I'd still like to see it before I believe it though.
