Here you go - finally got around to taking a pic / figuring out my new camera:

And, so hopefully people will leave him alone, a pic of ADVANS' headlights on my car. Go Nittany Lions!

I have to admit that I always pretended to like the stocky foggy headlights, but now I really like the clears. I do have some Lamin-X film that I'll put on to safeguard the investment.

I came close to buying those but...
if I do anything it'll be bix.
I have the clear fog lenses.
You can get them for like 15-20 each online.

Does that device give 0-60 times and such?
What is that? Make model?

It's a Scangauge II ( www.scangauge.com ) - I think $169? I just ordered another wire for it, as I can't really remove the one going from my OBD port anymore, and I'm kind of the designated office code reader these days - keeps me popular!

I could get the clear fogs, but think I'll keep things as is; I have no real interest in *******g around with that area of the car again - getting to the bulbs once was enough. Between the removal of the Carlsson lip and the driver's side wheelwell, I was ready to eat a gun.

No, it doesn't give 0-60 times, braking, g forces, etc. It does look like it's got a pretty good trip computer, though. I've got an Autometer gauge for those functions that I'll get to installing eventually, along with a boost gauge on the a pillar. Now that my oil leak seems to be fixed, I feel a little bit better about sinking a bit more money into the Benz. Have to admit to thinking about selling and getting a 135 every so often, though!

Well, I have been getting the P0420 code again! I got this adapter thing from Cory at Kleemann and installed between the aft O2 sensor and thecat. I cleared the cod out and drove around for about 150 miles.

I went to get the car smogged and they said that the computer refused my car because it said the sensors were not learned yet. The guy said to drive around for a week and to come back. Well, in the meantime-the P0420 code again.

I am sidk of getting this code and I have changed out both the front and rear O3 sensors.

Here is the frezeeframe info from when the code set:
FUEL SYS1 N/A
FUEL SYS 2 N/A
CALC LOAD 28.2%
COOLANT 181c
ST FTRIM .7%
LT FTRIM -2.3%
MAP 21.2 hg
ENG RPM 2796 RPM
VEH SPEED 70 MPH

Here is Live Data:
FUEL SYS1- CL, using HO2s
FUEL SYS2- CL, using HO2s
COOLANT 203c
ST FRTRM -3.9%
LT FTRM .7%
MAP 9.1 hg
RNG RPM 751 RPM
IAT 133
IGN TIMING 8.5
MAF .319
ABSLT TPS 1.5%
SECOND AIR .785v

I am at a loss as what to do and I still need to get this smoged. Do I have to resort to putting the stock manifold on to get it to pass smog?

if you are going to do smog...make you sure you drive around 1k miles before going back if you had disconnected the battery previously. not sure how long you have to drive for the ecu to learn the new sensor is normal tho.

Forgive me for asking since I didn't see it in the post, but do you have a catalytic converter still on?

I'm wresting with CEL issue with Kleemann Headers/Cats myself at the moment, getting codes P2096 & P2098 "Fuels System Lean". It may be/not be an installer issue. I should find out within a day or 2 whether its fixed now. Need to put the car thru several drive cycles for it to complete all the OBD2 monitor readiness tests.

If you disconncected the battery/cleared the codes right before you take it to inspection then you will not pass for the very reason you stated about 'sensors not learned'. Best to rent OBD scanner (Autozone rents out Actron 9175 model) to check on the "I/M Sensors" before you take the car to inspection. I eventually bought my own Actron 9180 off ebay.

Do you have pics of your 02 sensor install? Did you get Kleemann ECU along with your headers?

The adapter should/will have taken care of the p0420 code! You have to drive around 500 mile to get all the ready codes other wise you will keep getting the not ready message. I had to do it, so plan a nice trip to nowhere.

If you cleared the codes out and are still getting that p0420 I would looking into what else would cause that code. Maybe a bad o2 sensor? Maybe a bad wire to the o2 sensor?

Yes..

I have the Kleemann cat installed along with 2 new O2 sensors (well about 5000 miles on them). About every month or so, I get the CEL for the P0420 code, but I clear it out with my scan tool. Last year I passed smog, so I don't know what to do.

I noticed on the freeze frame info that the code tripped at 70 mph, so I wonder if I reset it and drive conservatively, if it would not trip? The engine runs just fine, so it is probably not an engine issue per se.

I like the header, but not the headaches that comes with it. On my previous car, a 2002 Pontiac
grand Prix, I changed out the cam, lifters, valve springs, throttle body, headers, etc... and never had any issues with smog.

As for the ECU, I am trying to find a company that can do it.

That sounds a bit much...typically a couple(3-4) of 20-30 mile drives oughta do it. Need to do stop & go traffic, moderate speed driving (20-40mph) and then some 15 minutes constant velocity ~55mph.

Unfortanly this is the case. I have an excellent mechanic so every 100 miles or so I would stop in to see if the codes were ready for my inspection. Once I hit 500 I was good to go. I am not sue if the smog test was included in these codes. You dont need all the code to be ready to pass an inspection in NY, you need more than half from what I remember.

I couldn't pass inspection with only 2 monitors left that are not ready, but that's in NYC...guess its different on the island...

I am not sure, but all I know is Montauk was a nice ride. After that I really did care/or ask if they were all ready or just enough to pass me. I just wanted my sticker.

Update-

I talked to Kleemann USA and they are going to order me a replacement downpipe/cat.

Hopefully this will take care of the problem.
