Getting air vents out to install CD changer???
#4
I am not too aware of it, bucause I had my friend Eric install all of my stuff in my car. I just remember him telling me about the two screws that he had to take out.
I will be talking to him later on today and I will post whatever he tells me

I talked to Eric...I just called him...I told him about what you were doing.
Call him at (423) 893-4921, and ask for eric. Tell him Andy told you to call him. He is probably going to ask you if you live in Maryland, because thats what I told him...I was looking at the wrong screen name!! Sorry
But if you give him a call he can tell you how he got mine out. Also, are you talking about the center console vents?? Just wanted to double check

Removing the cover on center console
RedC230K,
This is a pain, as well. These two steps you've been having difficulty with are the two hardest steps... by far.
There are two clips that are accessible from the ashtray housing tunnel. I used a flathead screwdriver to unclip them. They unclip downward, so weasel the screwdriver between the clip and the plastic that it's against, and pull downward.
Use your trusty flashlight, again.
I actually recall having more trouble clipping them back in, after I was finished, than unclipping them.
Does that help?

I know a lot of you guys like to tinker, but don't you think the $150-175 the dealer would charge you to install the CD is worth it? Then, if they scratch/break/dent/crack etc. one of the wood panels or vents, they'll have to fix it. Then, don't you still have the problem w/ the fiber optics and getting the CD "initialized"? Just my $.02. Have fun!
Edit - Sorry, forgot the C230 doesn't have wood, but the aluminum trim can probably get messed up too.
