Dealer loaners

I had to bring my car in last week for service because they damaged a wiring harness that controled the climate control when installing my CD Changer. Also I was getting the imfamous ESP/BAS error messages. They had to keep the car for 2 days and gave me a Ford Taurus loaner. They didn't have the part so I have to bring it back next week and get another loaner. Do you have to ask for a MB loaner or should that be standard? After driving an MB for the last 6 months it was hard driving the Taurus for 2 days, specially the steering!

Loaners

Every dealer has their own policy about loaners; there is no nationwide standard. Frankly, I think it's stretching it a bit to complain about what kind of car they give you to drive.

Some dealers try to stay exclusively with MBs, and then run out quickly leaving people with alternatives that are less attractive than a Taurus.

I wasn't complaining I'm happy they give me anything. I just read a lot of post about MB Loaners and I was looking forward to driving a different MB. No complaints, just curious!

Which dealer? Holloway in Manch-vegas loaned me a used C230K sedan a while back. The next time, after a little begging and sad puppy-dog-eyes, they lent me a demo ML so that I could run a quick errand while they did some work on my car.

They strive to get good marks on their surveys so I'm sure if you politely ask for an MB and, more importantly, give them enough notice they'll do what they can.

Yes, it was Holloway in Manchester. I have to drop it off again next week to get the ESP/BAS error message fixed. I'll see if they will give me one then. Who was your sales person?

Thanks
Dean

I bought my C240 from a large dealer in Bethesda, MD. They have a fleet of about 130 MB loaners, and use an on-site car rental desk to handle the cars. If you're too late they might run out and you'll get something besides an MB. The one time I went for service I got an ML320.
