Phil those exhaust tips are standard, yes, and I think they look great. I've not ran into any situation where the 135i doesn't pull like crazy. I can't help but chuckle when C350 owners imply (or even say directly) that they have a snowball's chance in hell against a 135i or 335i. It's a shame that Benz makes absolutely nothing that can compete with the 135i. The V8 AMG cars like the C55 and C63 aren't even remotely interesting to me. No manual transmission options and too nose-heavy & outta control (C63 big offense). I appreciate the dynamics of BMW.
Is it a 2009? Mine too has the "Year One of the 1" on the start button, but it's inaccurate. The 2008 was year one.

I don't think an 350 has a snowball's chance against a 135i or 335i as well. I drove it on my normal commute today and it did pretty well on the gas mileage, about 10mpg more than what my M5 would get.
The steering is direct and is as close to an M feel than any other non-M BMW. The M steering wheel fits this car. I can now feel very minimal turbo lag in the low rpm's, but it's not even an issue. At 4k rpm, the engine shines. I'm not too sold on the transmission, but for an automatic, it's not bad.
I still would probably put on KWV2's on this car. The suspension is good, but I wish it were just a tad bit more confidence inspiring at high speeds (like M's) and the rebound was adjusted a bit. Adding an LSD would be awesome too!
I miss my BMW Individual sound system on the M5, I would have liked a center channel in this sound system.
But overall, I think this car would be on my E46 M3 like white on rice. I'm still digging the car.
I do like the C63 and I've driven it quite a bit, on a track as well. It definitely needs the performance package and the LSD. I've tracked both a C63 and M3 and I can say that a C63 with PP and LSD comes very close to the M3.

Cool, the car is a 2008 with about 10k miles on it.

What ever happened to all the rumors about a TT V6 going into the w204?

Vista Del Mar in the new sig?
Seems most M5’s have a higher ride height than their lesser E60 brethren.
Your new springs fixed that – it’s settled down nicely!

thanks! I believe it was Dockweiler beach.
yup, good eye!
thanks! yeah, it's really quite odd, BMW tends to make all M's sit higher than their non-M counterparts. the 550i has a great stance as well as the 335i, but the M5 and M3's definitely need the drop.

2006 C230, 2006 BMW M3, bye bye C55:(
Man that looks like a pretty fun run!
Love how the M5's sitting! Overall comparison of he 135 vs. e46 M3? I'm asking because I want to hear it from an owner that has both or had both

Thanks!
I didn't own a 135i, but I had it for a couple days as a loaner. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with that little car. The power was very good and the handling was pretty on point.
If I had to pick between a 135i and an e46 M3, I would pick the 135i. Firstly, the e46 M3 is a beautiful car and most people don't think the 135i is, but looks are subjective. I think the 135i is faster out of the box than the M3 and the handling is close to par. The car is sharp and responsive. Not that the M3 wasn't, but you definitely feel the connection with the car. It's probably the only non-M BMW I would buy.
Yes, the M3's S54 revs beautifully and when you had it past 5,500 RPM, it was amazing. But, it lacked torque, something the 135i has plenty of.
I would probably mod the 135i with an LSD (a definite must for me), a light tune (BMW Performance or Dinan), and KW V3's. I'm 100% positive that with those mods, it would absolutely destroy a similarly modded e46 M3.
Needless to say, I'm REALLY looking forward to the 1-series M.
