Got a ticket

I just got my ticket in the mail for my window tint... and front plate... and brake light. It's $363. I think it's a little excessive. I'm gonna get an extension but I want to fight it. Any advice for what i should do. I already got my brake light fixed and am going to put my plate in the front windshield but i really don't want to take my tint off, I love it too much.

Also I got another ticket in the mail for the same thing but it said $10. I have no idea what it means but I'm OK with just paying $10 for it.

Please help me out here I need new tires and an oil change and i really don't want to spend my money on a garbage ticket because some moto-cop hates his life.

Thanks in advance.

first time is 10 which is just a warning, and second time will be very expensive.

Around here if you take photo proof (hold a newspaper or something showing the date off to the side of the picture) of your car with the issues fixed- the judge drops it.

I've done that with my Focus for window tint several times. However- I always take a picture of someone's non-tinted blue Focus Worth a try maybe.

A friend just rolls his front windows down, tells the cop he removed the windows..thus no more tint. CHP officer writes it off and off he goes(of course rolling the windows up after he leaves). BTW, sorry to hear that KONKA. Last year I had around 2k in tickets. All of them for various speeds, parking spots, tint

I think $10 is the penalty for $363 late payment

You still have to pay $363 and bumpnzx's idea is worth a shot ..

30% is the limit, mine is 20%.

Also if I can get it dropped with a picture then I will cuz theres a girl in my school that has a silver coupe like mine with the same exact rims also. However she says hers is a c350 but I don't think that that would matter since I'm not going to take a picture of the back.

If your state's limit is 30% and you have 20% that ticket has no grounds. Just be sure you're looking at the correct windows. In Seattle, WA, we can't have any tint on the windsheild, only like 25% on the sides, and maybe 30% on the rear. Check and see what your state's law really says. If it's indeed 30% for the windows you've got tinted, take your car to a reputable tint shop. They should have some kind of (led?) 'gun' that they can use to verify the % tint on your car. Get a court date, and bring the tint test form with you. The ticket should get dropped at that point. Of course, take care of the plate and tail lamp, and take pics to prove you did that too.

i dont think that made any sense.
if the limit is 30%...and he has 20% film...
the tintmeter would read like 12% visible light.

The state law is nothing on the front, 30% on the drivers and passenger sides and no restriction on the back windows and rear windshield. The cop tried to say that I can't have any tint but I couldn't find any local laws that agreed with him. 20% is darker than 30% so it is technically illegal, it is measured by the amount of light that is allowed in.

If I just need a document stating that it is legal than I can get a friend who works at a shop to do so, but I don't think that would drop the fine because then there is no evidence that I just didn't get a re-tint.

All those tickets are correctable. Take them to the sherrif's inspection station. They will inspect it and make sure your break lights are fixed, your plates are attached and your tints are off! They will sign the ticket and all you have to do is pay like $25 inspection fee for the inspection and a $25 to the court. If you take it to a University of California or CHP, they have free inspection.
