Wrecked my car!!

Well, just thought I would tell everyone that I wrecked my car last night. I was going down the road, and a dog ran out in front of my, and I could not stop, couldnt go left (oncoming traffic), so I swurved right, and hit a brick wall into a subdivision.

I wouldnt had hit the wall if they were not doing construction in the neighborhood because there would not have been any dirt/rocks that I would had it.

I had mercedes get my a tow truck out there and its sitting at Long Mercedes right now. As soon as they get done looking at it I will post what all I messed up/broke.

I know for a fact that both of the left wheels are gone, and the side of my car is scrapped and dented up pretty good too. All the underneath of my car is all bent up and everything as well.

Here is one pic that I found of my car off my disk of the pics of my TV and all. As soon as the dealer gets done fixing my car I will post more pics of it on here so everyone can see it.

benzy230,

sorry to hear about your car....does it just tick you off....
but, from your previous postings...you had a smaller pulley installed...what maker did you get? renn-tech? you had mentioned something about them. I am considering installing one myself in my C240...but am concerned about the warranty issues.
Good luck with your repairs.

As for it comparing to my civics, well, I still have the turbo civic, the superchargered one I sold a pretty good while back.

As far as luxury and feel goes...the benz all the way!! But as far as speed goes...my civics. I have raced both of them, I drove the benz one time and then had my buddy drive it the next...I outran it by about 4 to 5 cars both times.

The pulley I had my friend Rob make me the pulley for it. He owns his own little shop in Atlanta. He does custom work on civics, mustangs, anything that has a turbo or supercharger on it. See, when I first got mine, I did not know of anyone who had this stuff for the C230's...so I went to him and told him what I wanted and he made it happen! I have went for almost 5500 (actualy 4000 miles) on the pulley and belt. I have not had any problems so far.

As far as the wreck goes...well...it does suck! I was really pissed off because I have got all these trips planned for the car club and everything and now the car will be in the shop. I still have my civic to drive....but like I said..its nothing like the benz for everyday driving!!

Hmmm. Am I missing something, or isn't the smaller pulley used to increase the turbocharger output? The C240 does not have a turbocharger.

MarkL,

You are correct....the C240 does not have a supercharger....but the parts manager at the MB dealer says that Renn-tech makes an under pulley to replace the stock one in the normally aspirated motors....he says it increases HP nicely....but the warranty issue still remains....

No,no. He stated that he's considering installing a smaller pulley on his own C240!

Sorry, I guess I don't understand. Which pulley are you talking about replacing for the C240?

Sorry to hear that. how fast were you going when you had the collision?
it's a tough choice to whether to hit the dog or the wall. if someone owns the dog he might sue your *** off for it
is insurance gonna pay for everything?

Hmm your custom pulley sounds tempting as compare to those $1500 Vaeth Kit or Renntech. How hard is the install?

Is your turbo civic SOHC or DOHC? So the Turbo Civic actually outran your C230K /w pulley?

I have a civic too and I dont know whether I should turbo that or mess around with the Merc

Mark, I'd assume that by "under pulley"

for the c240, that they're talking about the alternator pulley. You can get some really good hp pickup by underdriving the alternator. Unfortunately, if you have a lot of electronics, it isn't a good answer, unless the draw on the alternator isn't that bad compared to its capacity. See www.unorthodoxracing.com for a much better description of it.

Gab, any properly set-up turbo civic will crush a smaller pulley-equipped C230. Weight's not a good thing, as my mother always says to me.

The dog it fine....my insurance is going to the dealership to look at my car.

My civic did have a SOHC engine build by JG with the turbo, I had about 8k in that engine with almost 392 whp at 26 psi.

The engine in it now is a built B16a engine I have in....it has about 341 whp. It is really quick.

I would just pimp out the benz, and do all the mods to the civic. With the civic you will spend less money and it will be faster, and then pimp the benz out to just cruise.

I really dont know how hard it is to put the pulley on, because I had Rob do that for me. As for my experience with other cars, pulley's are not that hard to deal with. But do the civic for speed!!

This is an area (performance mods) I know almost zip about -- I'll check it out. But, to underdrive the alternator, wouldn't you need a larger pulley? Alternately, doesn't a smaller pulley make the turbo run faster?

smaller pulley makes the supercharger spool faster...which creates more boost...more boost...more power!

Turbo is ran off exhuast gases...

Pulley help for the confused:

smaller pulley on supercharger - spins more from stock pulley on engine.

smaller pulley on engine - spins stock pulley on alternator less

Cheers, BT

I guess it is not as easy as they make it seem to be.
I guess you can spend $3500 for the Stage 1 upgrade by Renn-Tech - software; cold air box; and exhaust - this is for the C240. Increases HP by 20 as they claim. I have not looked at what that would do for the C230K.

Bob at Renntech said that it would cost around $2700 to pull 225 hp and 240 tq out of the engine....

On a side note, I don't think the dog owner could sue you if you hit the dog. Afterall, you endangered your life by swerving, and perhaps someone else's. So, given the option, brake and hope the dog gets the hell out of the way.

I am just hesitant to modify the car with too many things....just seems like I hear bad things about reliability of those mods by Renn-Tech..Brabus..etc...they just dont seem to hold up over time...the one thing the MB dealer said about cars modified by these companies is that these cars should be your secondary car....you should always have a back-up....sounds like to me that there seem to be a reliability issue here....don't know for certain...

NEVER risk your life, or that of another for the life of an animal, while driving!! It is not worth it...

I do not think you would have to worry about a lawsuit because a dog who is running through traffic is obviously not controlled by their owner(s).

It is human reaction to slam on the brakes, and swerve off the road, but it is not worth it.

I lllooovvvveeee animals, but....

Well, I did not want to slam on my brakes because I would had for sure it the dog, and someone from behind could had possibly hit me....if it wouldnt had been for the gravel and dirt on the road I swerved on......I think I would had been fine.....
