Did you stop and check? Is the engine still there?

Your car has several "non factory options" right? Make sure none of your new plumping has come loose, or any sensor wires are dislodged.

BTW, hows it feel now? Pull harder?

You are sooo lucky, your car ran this long without a check engine light. I've been in 5 times with a check engine light. Don't worry, it's a feature that MB programmed in. The first they'll ask you is if the gas cap is on tight.

If you do have aftermarket parts, and are not close with your dealer, come by and have us scan your computer before you go. We can tell you what the code is, and possibly avoid any problems at the dealer.

I've had 1 service engine light occurance in 13K miles. Dealer said is was probably a misfire at start-up. It never affected drivability.

I've never had a "Check Engine" light. Not even sure where on the dash that would show up.

It just occurred to me, Buellwinkle. Maybe your car likes to go to the dealer so often because while you're in the waiting room chowing down on the donuts and cookies and driving away in your loaner, your car is on the shop floor talking to the other MBs about how quiet it is without you in the car. The shop might be the only place on earth where your car feels peace and quiet from all the complaints... :p

Sorry. Just having a little fun, dude.

Saying you don't mind a car that visits the workshop often because you get free cookies and a car wash is like saying that you enjoy being sick often so you can read all the free magazines in the Doctor's waiting room

So true. Although God help you if your doctor is as incompetent as most MB dealership service departments.

Condensation in your gas tank will also trigger a check engine light. Fill up your tank and see if it does not go away.

The check engine light most of the times is due to the oxigen sensor, which is no big deal. We've driven my wife's minivan for 50,000 miles with the light on before I sold it.

My check engine light came on the second day I had the car. It was running fine so I brought the car in at my convenience. About 5 weeks later I brought it in, and was told the fuel shut off valve was broken. They fixed it and within 1 week the light came on again. It's in the shop now. My dealership uses Camrys for loners. I don't like them, so I am always looking forward to getting my car back.

Cool Engine light

My engine light came on a while back.

Each spark plug has two ignition somethings. Two of them gave up the ghost and the the light came on. Replaced both and all is well again.

For the record with OBDII almost anything will set off the light. My VWVR6 had the same problem and they never could make it stay off. My Honda's (both of them) same problem. With all the electronics on cars today it's wonder it dosen't happen more.

Be glad your not driving a Jag. World famous for that wonderful Lucas junk.....

The Lucas electrics are no longer used since Ford stepped in, IIRC?

Electrics aren't the worry in the X-type, its that noisy rear end.
