HELP - Errors, MAF, O2, Camshaft Position Sensor, Oil, etc..
Hello,
A week ago the engine light has appeared showing:
P201D-004 mixture formation unit adaptation, idle mixture too rich.[P0172]
P201E-001 CAT effect too small [P0420]
I has gone to the dealer and he has deleted the errors and told me it was because the camshaft position sensor was losing oil inside the wires. etc...
I have changed the camshaft sensor and put an isolating wire. There was oil in the connector, but not a lot. How can I know how much has run into the wires?
I have noticed that the car spends more petrol the lasts months and at idle you can smell unburned petrol.
Then I have check and clean the two O2 connectors and there where without any trace of oil.
I have also cleaned the MAF (It was a little oiled inside the air pipe) and noticed that the engine seems to run better at idle, but stills spend a lot of petrol.
Is there any other connector for the O2 sensor? maybe one in the middle of the harness to look for oil?
What do you suggest me to look or replace?
Thanks.

The idle is pretty good, only too much fuel.
My engine is M111, so I think I don't have this hose.

I have see that some people have also replace engine harness but I haven't seen any oil arriving the 02 sensor Plug. The part number for this is MA2035408905, but as far I can see it only includes the 1rst 02 sensor plug.
Thanks.

DID U EVER REPLACE YOUR SPARK PLUGS ? IF UR ENGINE IS NOT BURNING THE FUEL RIGHT THE IGNITION SHOULD BE YOUR NEXT SUSPECT IT MIGHT BE A BAD SPARK PLUG OR A BAD COIL PACK. PAY A DIFFERENT MECHANIC INSTEAD OF THE DEALER A DIAGNOSTIC TEST FROM A DIFFERENT MECHANIC AND TELL HIM THATS ALL YOU NEED & YOU'LL DO THE WORK. From my understanding, and this is very rare, when the cam magnet sensors leak oil into the wiring harness on an M111 motor, it damages the ECU, not the O2 sensors like on an M271 motor. You may want to check the coolant temperature, especially this time of year, if your thermostat is making the engine run cool for too long it can hurt your fuel mileage. You can use the coolant temperature guage in the dash display, should warm up to 80c within a few minutes of driving.

That equates to 13.5km /litre
Around town, it's 13.05 l/100km
That's 7.66 km / l
So your car is doing approx 2 km less per liter (assuming your figures are for town driving)
