06' BMW M3
I was in the Long Beach area at Cherry & 405,so I stopped in at the BMW dealer and saw the 1 series.Wow! is this car small,it was the 128i I don't know if they had a 135i around I didn't ask. After seeing it in person I don't think it's for me.

Vishnu is the only software worth getting. the 135 was not the rocket everyone thought it would be, only being about 200lbs lighter than the 335...bmw made it too heavy...but its still quick nonetheless. I personally think its too squished looking and for the dough, would opt for a used 335.

I hate when people compare the 335 to the e46 M3. First off, they are completely different cars, designed for two different reasons. Secondly, how can you compare 2001 technology with 2008 technology? on paper, a stock e46 m3 will pull a stock 335, the E46 has more power and weighs less. It can be a drivers race, but 99% of the time, the e46 will win.

With Vishnu, the 335 will walk an e46 m3, no doubt...and why shouldn't it? it would also run a Gallardo, C2S and a slew of others since it would have almost 400 rear wheel hp. vishnu turns that car into a beast. But lemme ask you, if you could afford it, would you rather have a Gallardo or a 335 w/Vishnu that may be faster? If you answer 335, then there's more to life than speed

The e92 M3 and a 335 w/Vishnu...that would be a good race...

my wife's car is an e92 328 and i can tell you that it is WAY more refined than my M3....but that's not what the M3 was or is about. that being said, those thinking that buying as 328 over a 335 will slow you down? forget it....that car cruises at 100 like your going 50

On paper...but in reality the 335 has more torque than the E46 M3 and only slightly less HP at crank. turbo's not really new technology. it's different way of making the same HP. It's like the old saying a LOT of e46fanatic kids are saying when they started to realize the AMG's faster in straight. "it's not fair to compare e46 M3 to C32 because the Merc is supercharged"

vishnu is HOMO...didn't they raise the price up to $2000 for the stg 2 tune? although the tune on the 335i is promising and has seen action already. I still question the reliability of it's all-aluminum block. I mean we know the B5 S4 2.7 was reliable at running boost because of the iron block. 335i also has a known problem with fuel pump failing. my friend's E92 already gone through the third pump and currently filing for LEMON!!!

i like the new 328. NA...230hp. not fast, but not slow either. fun to drive is more important.

jfabes & FrankW,thanks guys for your input.I appreciate the education.I think I'm going to look for a used 335i coupe after it's all said and done. Also in my opinion the 135i is not the prettiest thing out there.

C230 2.3 Manual Coupe
Here's a BMW 120D diesel in a 2006 Nurburgring 24 hour race. It came in 5th overall against the greatests sportscar in the world.

Pick Sportscar & GT Racing on the left column and then scroll down on Nurburgring 24 hours 2006. The video is an hour long though.

i never compared the e46 m3 to the c32 because it was coupe vs. sedan my problem with MB is that they offer no manuals in the AMG's...which i find obsurd. they just aren't serious about going head-to-head with the other players....becuase their buyer demographics show they wouldn't sell very many. whatev...

i contimplated, briefly, the B6 S4, but after I heard that high revving 6, i was sold.

i guess what i meant was that 7 years ago, 333 hp in a 3450 lb car was ALOT of power....but not today. and to get it, you had to spend >$50k and get the top dog in the 3'er line-up. today, you can opt for a base 335, in sedan or coupe, for $10k less and its about as fast. doesn't seem fair....but that's life.

a friend of mine just added vishnu stage 1 to his 335 sedan and it was impressive. still not sure what bmw was thinking since so many people will opt for that over the new m3 because its tuner friendly. i agree with you though, their are some longevity issues. they've had several problems, like the fuel pump, oil overheating and cars shutting down, and they go through brake pads like all get out....and there's no aftermarket pad yet.

A box on 4 wheels
Performance wise 1 series is a rocket, make the 3 series and any other car in competition a snail..

@.....

yeah it doesn't look great, but if your next to it you won't be able to look at it for long.

that's what BMW is for...MANUAL!!!

high revving V8 is awesome

haha...7 years ago 400hp e39 M5 was the top dog and the w210 E55 only had 349, now...even a Camry and Accord has 260hp and for normal sports car 300 is a must. lol

hmm...I dunno...If it's me I would still opt for the M3. There's something in the M that's just has more soul. like the AMG and the S.

OFFTOPIC...

drove a new 08 350Z today (friend rented it from vegas back after an accident that leads to repairing his car in Vegas...ROFL)...the thing is amazing for a stock sports car. steering and chassi feedback is very good. noisy as hell tho and from the inside it sounds different than from the outside. now I know why some ppl say the VQ35 sounds like crap. stopping power from the stock setup is incredible too.

if you are considering a fun car, this is IT!
