6sp shift assembly
for those that have a sedan with manual transmission, can you please tell me two things.
1.) when you hold your shift knob, can you wiggle it from side to side ..... say about 2mm. mine does but the shifter is tightened.
2.) when you're in 6th gear, is there play from the end of the gear to the rod. eg. when i have it in 6th, i can pull it back about 1/2" until it hits the max. should it be like this or should every gear (especially 6th) be tight at the end of the gear box?
please leave me your impressions and suggestions. thanks.

I'm not sure mine does that -- I don't "play" with it once I engage a gear :p . If you feel the lever "snap" into gear and it doesn't pop out, it's probably fine. BTW, I've read in several places that it's not a good idea to even rest your hand on the shift lever while driving -- it can cause wear to parts of the shift mechanism (the "dogs"). On my '99 Passat, the shift lever would actually move a bit when accelerating after placing it in gear.
