POS Lighter socket blues resolved.
The stock lighter socket is so poorly located all kinds of crap falls into it, and then you can't get a connection, and or it blows the fuse. You can't just pull it out, as the it has a light socket attached on the back, you have to pull the dash apart.
Mine was acting up, shorting out etc.
I priced a new one, it was like 75 + tax and shipping, but hey it includes the lighter. This would've been my 3rd one as the dealer has already replaced under warranty.
So, yesterday I took action.
Here's the result. Had the pull the dash apart.
This thread helped alot.

Plus put in a brand new cupholder, and washed all the insides of that area with soap and water, which makes me happy in a strange way that makes me wonder if I'm a little OCD? But it was bugging me.
It's interesting to note that the bottom rubber piece just pry's out for cleaning if you so choose.
I also put in the stock stereo in a vain attempt to resurrect my CD changer, but it didn't work.
The old lighter is now just there to fill the hole, and isn't connected.
I ran the wires from the 3 power outlet behind the dash, to the
connector where the lighter originally connected.
I didn't have to cut any wires, just disassembled the socket from the
3 outlet, use some tin shears to cut the lugs down to size to fit into the
connector, and tape the whole thing up.
I did drill 3 holes in the uh...thingy, whatever it's called...
shelf?
Last thing I need to do is get some black model paint, and paint it.
Tried using a little spray paint, but it didn't work so well.

Re-did the 12v outlet. The one in the 1st pic fell apart,
nearly cost me a ticket, since the radar detector didn't work resulting in getting pulled over for not paying attention. Luckily I got off with a lecture.
I like this one as it has a USB power outlet that charges my bluetooth.
And it's a better design.
