Anyways, good looking car, truelove! The C7 wheels make the car.

i noticed that you no longer have COMAND listed in your sig. did you dump it in favor of the door sills or what? it looks like your car will be almost identicle to mine except for the colors and the wood trim.

From that pic, I still like the "industrial-look" of the aluminum better.

If MB only offered wood up until 2002 and then started to offer aluminum for 2003, folks would be crazy for the aluminum. Funny how that works...

I just noticed that roll-top cupholder cover is wood in that pic. How does that work? Is it a bunch of wood segments (like a roll-top desk) or one piece?

i really like the bi-xenon's truelove. i still park my car as far as i can from any other in parking lots and i'm super careful not to get scratches on the body, ironically my father accidentally scratched my side panel in my driveway with his briefcase.

i agree with you avlis, i would've liked for more aluminum all over the doors and maybe armrests, if I would've wanted a wood interior I would've gotten the C320 or a CLK, no offense to your interior truelove.

Yes, it works like a roll-top desk.

For me (IMO), the difference is that the GTI is the top end of the Golf line, deserving of the nicer appointments, while the Coupe is the bottom end of the C-Class line. You don't see geniune wood on the entry level Golfs, do you? Or entry level Jettas or Passats...

A general MB customer might consider adding the genuine wood to the Coupe (or at least making it available) as a step toward better assimilating the car into the Mercedes-Benz family. (i.e., something expected in the MB vs. a nice touch for a top-of-the-line VW.)

Some of you may not understand what I'm saying, but others will. The wood trim is a step in the right direction. Now if only US coupes could be available with the MB-Tex as standard seating.

hmmm, i notice alot of debate about the wood trim. i can't say this enough, "my pictures don't do it justice". it really is absolutely beautiful. it makes the interior. you feel like you're in a big luxury car with the wood. i don't know, i wish you all could see it. it really makes the inside something special. that's the first thing people comment on. i also wish i had a better camera. if you get a chance to see a coupe with wood in it, take it. i think you'll all like it. and no, i didn't want it just because it was the 'new' thing for the coupe. i've always loved wood trim. i had it in my cougar. i really can't tell you how much more elegant just a little pieces of wood make the car. maybe i'll take some more pictures tonight from a better angle or something.

I like the wood. I personally would have gone with the Charcoal Cinnamora to match my charcoal interior - but that would be too light for your car.

Although, why are you on-line? Get out and drive, man! I think I took a day off of work (plus something like 200 miles the first night).

Cheers, BT

yeah i did. for the money, and for something that i wouldnt be using all that often it really didnt make much sense. the aux input would be nice, but i dont have an ipod, dont care for satellite radio so it was pretty much useless. i ordered the door sills from europarts express, along with climatronic, ebrake pad and the euro split mirrors. they should be here around the end of the month so i can install them when i get my car. my salesman said he will have the install done for free when my car arrives. all i have to do is bring the door sills in. the mirrors ill have to pay for installation and the pad and climatronic i can do myself.

Personally, I think the wood only goes well with leather seats...don't think it will look good on cloth, and vice versa.

Well, that's different than what you originally said. You said "You won't find geniune wood trim on other "hatchbacks." LOL!" - I simply pointed out that statement is false - you WILL find genuine wood trim on other hatchbacks. If you want to now change your statement, fine.

Also, all VW Golfs are entry level cars.

And, the lack of wood trim in other hatchbacks doesn't have much to do with cost, IMO. For instance, the RSX could easily come with wood trim, but who would want it? Truelove says it perfectly in his post above, "you feel like you're in a big luxury car with the wood." Most mid-priced hatchbacks, like the RSX, are geared to a younger, more "sport" minded crowd that don't want to feel like they are in a "big luxury car."

Making wood available as an option on the C230 is ok, but I think making it standard would be a step in the WRONG direction. The C230 is supposed to be a "sports coupe" geared towards younger buyers - I think MB's aluminium trim idea was a good idea, but poorly executed.

"Genuine wood" doesn't mean anything these days, its common even in lower priced cars.

Congrats truelove, your car looks great. I don't think wood detracts from the sport aspect of the C230. Is there wood on the doors too?

I agree with MB-BOB, why can't MB-Tex be standard on the C230? Do they even make full MB-Tex interiors anymore? My 1996 C220 has MB-Tex, and most people think it's leather anyway (most leather seats feel like vinyl anyway). And MB-Tex is extremely durable and very easy to clean (considering it never looks dirty).

If anything, leather seats, not genuine wood trim, is becoming increasingly common. Leather is standard on the $14K Hyundai Elantra GT. And fake wood is everywhere (even on pre-2000 MLs), not the real stuff...

Well, I agree with that. A cloth interior in any car sold in the US with a price of more than $25,000 is ridiculous. At least a decent fake leather interior should be standard.

The capri blue looks sweet doesn't it? It's like a really dark blue. It's got the coolness of black but with metallic glitter of silver. Gotta love it!

Man, I love those bi-xenons. Can those be retrofitted on a 02 Coupe?

What color are your headlight signal lights? I'm looking at your bi-xenons and I don't see any amber color in them.

I passed by the dealer today. And I looked at some coupes and behold. A 2003 with leather and wood same color as yours. I can say this the pictures don't do justice, the wood looked very nice and blended nicely with the car.

So stop the criticizing people:p

That must be why Honda and Nissan are saving the cheap "genuine fake wood" trim for the more 'expensive' cars. The TL/CL have some of the worst fake wood this side of an old Buick. The stuff in the I30/I35 looks about as bad as the laminate they use on particle board furniture.

bi-xenon controvercy

well, to me, the bi-xenon just simply don't flow with the car. I mean, if you look at the CTS or the G35 coupe or the Z350, they all have some sort of a futuristic and agressive look and the bi-xenon just adds that agressivity. Well IMO, the coupe has a calm and more elegant flow and appearance so I think the Bi-xenon is sorta out of place. Not that I don't like the xenons, it just don't match with the car. This is just me once again. The other parts of the car is just dope. The wheel, the color, the pedal, interior color, door sill, and the wood (I prefer the alum). THey all looks good. Nice job picking a car.
