DIY radar install to rear fuse box w/ pics

ok. I just installed this. So I took pics of it in case anyone wants step by step pics. I thought the threads available through STF were enough, but there were many ppl complaining about having more pics. So, here are more pics of the install

enjoy!

I'm sure there are other ways that people can share. For references, I used the following threads:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/109780-help-electrical-wiring-v1-install-please.html
https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....3&postcount=20

(FYI: Since it is on my email account, these pics wouldn't be deleted anytime soon so you can subscribe and do it anytime in the future and need not download the album.)

Hey, nice install.
Just a question though, whats the reason you pick the rear fuse box instead of the one at driver's door?

The front fuse panel is not ignition switched.

^ Yes, but word on the street says you can pull power out of the OBDII port, which IS switched.

I'll try that and see what happens.

Great thread. I was about to wire the v1 the g/f got me for my birthday. Saves me the trouble of wiring it behind the dash..... I have the concealed display as well, so still thinking about location for that.

PM one of the mods to have this thread stickied in the DIY thread. Good job mang.....

I did not wire mine into the cigarette lighter. I used the fuse box under the hood. I grounded it to a existing grounding point, I ran the power to one of the wires under the dash. I used a wiretap to tap into it. It took me a hour to find one that was only had power when the car was turned on. The only negative is that the radar detector stays on for around 10 seconds after you exit the car unless you hit the lock button twice. Not a big issue actually. I am going to the dealer next week sometime, I have a friend who is the Service foreman (Master Technician) so I am going to talk to him about wiring it differently. They do a lot of custom work for people on there cars. So I sure they have installed a hardwire kit before in a C-Class. I have seen them put SLR doors on a CLS55 so I know this won't be a problem.
