Help with electrical/wiring/v1/install please?

Hey guys, I decided to follow the threads and hardwire my v1 to the fusebox in the trunk and buy an "add-a-fuse" to plug into slot 14. The add-a-fuse came with 4 fuses--3, 5, 7.5, and 10 amps. I put the 3amp fuse in the top slot of the add-a-fuse and used the supplied wire tap (from the v1) and tapped into the red wire on the add-a-fuse. Then, I grounded the v1 thing to a bolt I saw on the top shelf of my trunk. When I turned on my car the v1 didn't work. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? What should I get? Where should I ground it? Pics are attached.

Thanks!

the curley wire would drive me crazy too... I had it installed somewhat discretely, but I had to keep the cigarette lighter door open so I finally did it this way.

I ran 25 ft. rj11 cable from the v1 all the way into the trunk, the hardest part was fishing the wire from the backseat to the trunk. then, I just bought the add a fuse and used the v1 wire tap to tap into that red cord and then just grounded it to the top (I don't know if that's right).

I learned how to do it from this post: https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...=radar+install

You only have to run the POS wire from the trunk. You can ground the NEG wire in the dashboard fusebox.

Bob, I ran a RJ11 cord from the front to the trunk, so I had to ground the NEG wire somewhere in the trunk... Is my ground sufficient? Thanks!

I'm sure it is just fine. I made the suggestion, because there are not many options on how to route the wire from front to back, and it's a little easier when there is the diameter of only one wire. But if the wire you have is a two-element joined together, then no problem.

About the "add a fuse", my radar detector came with an in-line fuse holder (didn't have to buy one) and I just spliced that into the line at the dashboard fuse box as well.
