So I was trying to help my friend jump his car...

OK, I try to be a good samaritan and help a friend in need. Long story short, I broke the stock hood stock latch pictured here, on the 5th or 6th pic down. I spent 30 minutes trying ghettoing the hood open with a longish torx screwdriver. Basically stick the short end through one of the holes on the metal latch part and pull. I'm able to reliably do this. Now, using that thread as guidance, I plan on replacing the latch, which has a part number conveniently printed on it.

However, I've lost all the parts attached to it, including the part that you say "Do NOT lose this piece, bend it or warp it. You will need it again later !"...
So yeah, I lost them somewhere in the engine bay and it's dark out, so I'll look for them later. My main problem is getting replacements for those parts. What part numbers are for the other things that the latch are attached to? Is there a blowout diagram of the latch assembly?

Finally, should I worry about any of those things getting in the intake or the radiator? Will an filter keep a nut from getting sucked in the engine.

Thanks a lot for your help. I will post a step by step when I get this done.

did you have a ziptie? it would've made it easier to open your hood.

sorry i don't have the partnumbers, but hopefully someone will be able to help you out!

Look on the underside cover beneath the engine. Take off a few bolts holding it on at the sides or back and bend it down so you can see across it.

Alright, just got off the phone with the dealer. $40.00 for the latch . They have the mounting hardware though, all for less than 5 dollars. $50 seems very steep for this plastic part. The part number is A 203 887 02 27 as on the bottom of the latch sitting on my desk. Anywhere I can get the latch for cheap? I know I can just put a ziptie on there and show my mechanic at home how to open it but if I ever bring it into a dealer, I know they'll replace it without permission.

Also, mleskovar, I aint got no tools, and I'm in college, so limited resources.

Hey...I am the creator of that thread to the link above. My C230 was totaled last December. It still had the CL grille and CL extended latch. I sold the stock grille, but should still have the original OEM latch at home. I'll look for it tonight. Cross your fingers that I find it. If I find it, I'll be happy to sell it to you for like $10 to cover shipping and lunch for a day. You just might be in luck!
