Hi all,
I know a 130mph speed limit is nothing to sneeze at (although its becoming a norm in many modern cars). Has any W203 (230k coupe specifically) successfully removed the stupid 130mph speed limiter in the US? I see there are alot of chip makers but none have claimed publicly they can remove the top speed limiter. Any help/info is appreciated (the US auto coupe can do 149mph correct and 6spd is 152mph from my understanding due to gear limitations).

*Before anyone start the 'u shouldnt go that fast...' and 'why do u need to....' statements, I've done 138mph+ in my audi a4 safely many times (after speed limiter removed).

In theory this should be easy to do. You need have a memory map of the EC module ROM. If you can find out where in ROM they keep Vmax then you can simply burn another ROM. Any undergrad electrical engineer can do this. It is not that hard to find Vmax in you do a register dump of the ROM. I could do this for you but this would spoil your fun and the educational experience is very gratifying.

Nah, I'm not being a smart ***. I've done 130 and it didn't seem too safe on these crappy American roads... not to mention the other traffic one might encounter.

Try telling that to ricers who cut their springs, then bottom out going over a small hill and flip their cars 6 times.

I hit 90 on a semi-regular basis, but fear of the cops keeps me from doing it full-time. Plus the speed limiter is there because stock tires are only rated safe up to 130-140 mph or so (Of course with Z-rated tires that's a non-issue).

I understand the issue of factory tires limit and liability. I simply want to know what I can do AFTERMARKET (and doesnt cost me over a grand) to take VMAX off. Also, C7 pkg 17" rims come with W or Z rated tires I believe (gotta go home and check) and those tires should be able to do 150mph+

For all the ppl. with opinions on 'why drive highspeed...' you can open-up a new post in the c-class w203 or (preferrably) another forum. My original question remain of those who know the TECHNICAL know how of removing top speed limiter, or know where I can get it done at a reasonable price, please post here with the information and I appreciate your time and effort.
