Painting the grill of the coupe

I am taking my car tomorrow to paint eveything on the grill in black except the three point star! it will cost me aroun 20 to 30 bucks with the original color and a good clear! it 's cheap because the guy is a friend of mine and also he is painting a c240 2002 black like my car so that is why the price i so cheap! any want can suggest me what you think?

Awaiting a new arrival...
I had a second stock grille sprayed brilliant silver to match my c230k and the lighter shade makes a big difference in the front end of my car. The darker gray of the stock grille just looked out of place to me.

And like you, I had it sprayed when the dealer was spraying lots of brilliant silver and got it done cheap.

It seems that most of the cars I see now have a black grille w/ chrome emblem, so it should look good. I had the "sports grille" on my C240 blacked out w/ electical tape except for the star and I thought it looked pretty sweet. Wife didn't like it though

I noticed most painted grilles are done with matte black paint. Will the paint scratch off easy if you use ur fingernails to run it through?

i think the only problem with the tape on a black car is that the color is to dull and different than the black paint. On any other color it looks like a good match.

Ah ha! I was wondering why no one had done that in the past? IMHO, the side looks rather dull without any badging and the Kompressor badges really dress up the sides much like the SL55AMG, C32AMG coupe that they have over in Europe.

It just so happens that I have two brand new Kompressor badges that I bought last week. What happened was that I actually purchased the "V6 Kompressor" badges (the "V6 Kompressor" is about CDN$70 per badge) because I just wanted the "V6" part for my 320. As such, the "Kompressor" parts are completely untouched and unused.

They took several weeks to arrive as they had to come directly from Germany. I was going to Ebay them, but if anyone is interested, PM or e-mail me and we can discuss this further. I'm not looking to make any money, just want to re-coupe (pun intended) some of the expenditure and give them a good home rather than leaving them on my shelf. They would certainly make a nice Christmas present for your car!

if your car had the same suspension as mine, had a system and my exhaust i would think its mine.

I once thought of putting the kompressor badge on the side of my car but i never did.

By the way, did u have your grille painted?

if i decide to put the kompressor badges on the side i may take off the sport badges, even though they were 45 bucks.

I would have put the Kompressor further to the left so the OR doesn't bend around the flare.

On another note, wow, $45 for the sport badge? I didn't think that it was that pricey!

I don't think that I would've. He seems to have done a good job with the positioning. Even the C32AMG's badging is on the fender curve. Placing it further back would've created assymetric spacing on the left and right on the badge.

Yes, they are still available. PM me for more details please.

You don't really have to worry about getting them straight since they are actually already pretty straight on the backing right now. Just mark the current positions and duplicate it and you'll get it right

Good deal, PMs on its way. Did you guys like what I did with my book case? C-240 sport grille in the background. I now have a C-230K, CLK-GTR, and SL-55 1:18 maisto models on the shelf, it looks pretty neat. Thanks
