Rattle and squeak!!!?! what is it?
Ok, so tuesday after our photo shoot someone pointed out that it sounded like something was loose under the hood as there was a rattling sound, the next day I really started to hear it. When I start the car, that first split second u hear a rattle, then nothing, runs quiet and smoth, but, when the car is still cold and you have your foot on the brake, and **** gear into either drive or reverse, you get a loud rattleing and you also hear a squeaking, this only happens when the car is in drive or reverse and at a complete stop, the second you start moving, even a crawl, it goes away. Once the car gets warmed up, say 5 mins, its gone, no sound or nothing. also smell some fuel, and that goes away also. No leaks anywhere as I can see, Moosejaw also looked at it with me, we see nothing loose or leaking! any help please!

I am having a very similar if not the same problem and I have 49,980 miles, so I wouldn't even have 20 miles to get to the dealer for warrantee work. Please keep us posted if you get it fixed and if it is the lower pulley.

but if it was a pulley or something, why would it stop rattling once the car warms up? it doesnt continuously do this. any idea how much it should cost to fix? i am out of warranty

ok, found the service invoice. The problem you are describing is 100% exactly what I had.
This is what the invoice reads:1 271-200-02-70 TENSION ROLL

INSPECTED VEHICLE HEARD SQUEAK / RATTLE NOISE AT START UP, LUBED BELT NOISE STILL PRESENT, R/R BELT AND STARTED
NOISE GONE, PUT BELT BACK AND TESTED MORE, FOUND WHEN VEHICLE FIRST STARTED TENSIONER MADE A NOISE WHEN FIRST LOADED, R/R TENSIONER AND PUT BELT BACK STARTED AND NO MORE NOISE HEARD
HOPE THIS HELPS

I've got the same noise. I'm going in on Monday to check it out I'm at 67K so we'll see what they say. This will be my first expirience with the extended warranty.

well i just called him, he is still trying to figure it out, says its between the supercharger and AC condensor. how can it be supercharger? it is only while i am in drive and reverse, only upon start up when engine is COLD, only under like 1000 rpm, and only for like 3 mins, once engine is warm, its gone!
Whats this i read about some 12$ hose replacement? i cant find the service bulliten about that, never got anything in mail either. Could this be a culprit?

Ok, looks like its actually the ac compressor. when the ac is off, the belt barely rattles, when the ac is on, it shakes a lot! I am going to make an appointment with a different dealer in the area, get a 2nd opinion and see if they will cover it under grace period warranty, car is barely 3 yrs old.

^ Damn, thanks for starting this thread. Time to revive it. 
My car just started having this problem. My friends think the transmission is about to blow or something. It's annoying for sure but from what it sounds like it's not critical to have it replaced.
Not sure if it's tied to the AC though? Will check it out later today.
R/R = Remove and Replace.
