Service Air Conditioner
Anyone have a DIY on servicing my 2002 C320 with refrigerant? I get the red lit button on the E/C Rest. I had it diagnosed this past December and was told it was coming up with a low refrigerant error. They quoted me $300 + to check for a leak and refill it half way.
I dont want to pay so much if it is a simple dye test and fill.
Thanks in advanced!!

If you
are so low that the ec light stays lit and you can't shut it off,you need to locate the leak and repair it.If you have digital climate control try running the onboard diagnostics at http://www.eclassbenz.com/node/27
it works on some other models so maybe you will be lucky.
post the values 1-8 and the errors.
Locating a leak can be easy or hard depending on where it is,if you were just a little low you could throw in a can of r134a from autozone and call it good. However since your light is on the leak is probably going to require evac of the system, repair of the leak install of a new drier and a proper refill with the correct weight of r134a and oil.
Bite the bullet and get it repaired properly the first time and you will save money and headaches in the long run.
Shop around for an indie shop that does mb a/c.
