Do you need snow tires on a 4Matic or do all seasons do just fine?

If you can affort 4Matic w/ Snow tires, sounds like an excellent combo why not?

For those of you on a budget 4Matic w/ all season is not too bad either, of course is not as good.

One thing is AWD only helps you GO, and Corner. AWD does NOT help your car stop. Only your tire will help your car stop when it comes to snow.

No I'm not on a budget when it comes to my car. If the snow tires will really help that much with a 4Matic then I would consider putting them on. I assume you just keep your other tires and have them put back on in the spring?

My only experience with 4Matic would be our ML vs my Quattro. I feel that the 4Matic system allows a little too much slippage before engaging whereas my Quattro is instant. Perhaps its the mechanical (Quattro) system vs the electronic system (4Matic) Nonetheless, both systems are excellent for snowy weather

2003 C240 4matic trade-in...

grettings all, i went to get my car appraised for a trade in yest and was offered $17,300... it has 45k miles on it... does this sound like a good deal or am i getting ripped???

KBB has the car in excellent condition for $17,300 but edmunds.com is telling me $17,891... initially they only offered me $15,981 but i had to fight to get at least $17,300... should i be walking to another dealership or should i be lucky enough i am able to get excellent price on a trade in since KBB says only 5% of cars fall within this category...

thanks everyone...

At MB they usually give some discount to returning customers and another $2,000 off if you bring Benz for trade-in.
IMHO matching KBB is not bad at all

i think that's a good deal already

if you sell it privately, you prob will only get around 18k.
so if they offer you 17.3k for trade in, go for it

I highly doubt it will go privately for 18. People are not stupid and before buying a car look into KBB. At least I am talking from my previous experience, but I might be wrong in both ways

can you lower a 4matic? A 4matic is awd right? Probably something with the awd and the angle of the wheel to the axel is why you can't lower it.

As of right now no company offers springs for the 4 matics.

Dnasty8305 and I sent Vogtland an OEM spring. They are currently doing R&D and will have lowering springs for us by the end of February.

3.0L C280 4MATIC Spins 2nd: am I crazy?!?

Car is an '06 C280 4Matic, 3.0L, 5-speed auto. Coming home from the store this evening I was approaching a red light. I had down shifted the 5-speed auto from 3rd to 2nd as I rolled up. At about 10 mph and still in 2nd and engine braking, the light turned green so I tromped it (floor button and all, just for grins). It started going but quickly kicked down into 1st which it doesn't do too often if I'm already rolling over 10 or 15. So it jumped forward hard. I pushed it up a gear on the stick just in case (I didn't want to be holding it in 2nd because things were happening pretty quickly all of a sudden), it shot up to the red-line like always and shifted into second--a nice hard, crisp shift at just about max RPM. Then something weird happened. It kind of fell on it's face for a half-second like the rev limiter or traction control was braking or pulling spark out. Then it came back on the power quickly and took off again--screaming along nicely. Now with the auto (even holding it down a gear) it will up-shift and not over rev no matter what you do so I didn't think it was the rev limiter. But it sure felt like a rev limiter. And it was chilly but the roads were dry and clear so it wasn't ice or sand or gravel. What's up with that? Did it spin the tires going into 2nd so EPS kicked in? I don't remember seeing the EPS light flash on or anything. And I've never had it even bark the tires going into 2nd although it feels like it could sometimes. What do you think happened?

You probably drove over some wet railroad tracks or gravel.

Will the 2008 c-class come with 4MATIC immediately?

I was wondering if the new 2008 c-class coming out in the summer will offer 4matic immediately when it comes out.

2006 C350 4MATIC

Hi everyone,

I'm considering getting a 2006 C350 4matic. I can't seem to find much information regarding this vehicle other than the fact that it has a 5 speed automatic. Any input would be much appreciated etc. reliablity, problems, regrets...

thanks,
Dan

Thanks for the helpful reply sanf.

I DID try google but it mostly came up with information about the C350...not the 4matic. Most sites only mention that the 4matic comes with a 5 speed automatic. No need to be sarcastic. I also thought that it would be informative to get first hand information from owners themselves.

ha, just couldnt help it. anyway, what kind of info are you looking for? hp? basic specs?

C classes are pretty solid. it all depends on your luck. some Cs are built better than the other but that's the same as every other car.

You wont be disappointed with the C350's power. But if you were into looks as well, you might want to consider the C350 Sport instead of the 4matic.

Can't get C320 4MATIC Wagon rims off

So I'm doing a brake job for about zillionth time, but first time on this car - usually I do it on my C32, S4, or Suburban - no big deal. So on my wife's C320 4matic Wagon, I can't get the farking wheels off. I took the lug bolts off and the wheels just won't budge. Is there some trick - like...pull harder?...

Anyways, just want to make sure I'm not missing some trick and of course she's done the Owner's-Manual-relocate-because-it's-bad-feng-shui-mod.

Any guidance appreciated. Thanks!

Bif
