Cool Am I imagining this?

Today on my way back from work, I entered my 320 and started the car. The steering felt much lighter (as if the power steering suddenly got better). The drive home was smoother (engine more silent and SMOOTH). It was as if I just got a service done only I still have 6900 miles to go before my A service. Thinking back the only thing I did different today was change the service station I get gas from. I went to Chevron since I noticed I had gas warning on the dash and I was on my way to work. Needless to say, the gas cost a whooping $4.09.

I have never believed the gas station you get gas from matters. Am I imagining this or have anyone had the same experience?

According to my MB mechanic, you are not imagining things. Chevron has Techron. I apparently is recommended for MBs.

Absolutely NO WAY would you feel such a huge difference unless you previously had bad gas in the car or were running on regular. And the feel of the steering wouldn't change from fuel.

Furthermore, there is nothing special about techron even though the marketing department wants you to think so. It's just their brand of detergents. Just about all premium fuels have similar detergents, and they don't provide a difference in power, what they're good for is preventing carbon buildup or helping reduce it in an engine that already has it, but this is a process that occurs over time, not within days.

I dont know about steering but I notice that when I use certain gas the pedal becomes more loose sort of speak. Meaning less tension. Pedals goes down smoother.

Nothing special. You have an exhaust leak making its way into the cabin. Don't breathe too deeply.

I'm not trying to be an *** to you guys by disputing your claims, but you do realize the gas pedal isn't connected to *ANYTHING* mechanical, right?

There is a sensor and a spring within the pedal assembly and then the wire from the sensor goes to the ECU to tell the engine where the gas pedal is.

So there is absolutely no way the gas pedal could feel different.

EDIT: I think my sarcasm meter might be broken.

That was not what I said

The gas pedal did not feel different. I said the power was different. Another thing too, the gas is burning twice as fast.

Check the power steering fluid level.

The experience with the engine can be due to several factors.
Depending on how many miles you have, the engine may be loosening up a bit. Also when the level gets a little low, it feels a little faster, less splashing around in the wet sump.

Gas has been 4.09 at least (prem), around here for a while.
Old news.
