any idea if the following model (cd changer) will fit on a 2001 c240:

A 002 820 7989
model no. MC3198


how about an alpine cd changer?

you'll need adapter for the apine cd changer(may not work properly). although MB and BMW's cd changer IS made by Alpine.

i talked to the local alpine dealer and he said, that the changer will fit to the w203
also they have a convert box which enables their HUs to connect to the steering wheel control

Yes there is a box which will connect an Alpine unit to the steering wheel buttons. But, I have never heard of an AI-Net Alpine changer being connected to a stock MB head unit. The MB headunit is not AI-Net. It uses D2B. If it can be done, please let us know how to do it. Many of us would love to know how it is done.
