Did anyone ever notice that the bell that rings after the engine is turned on... rings 13 times?

If MB marketing folks read this - you may want to reconsider.

that's because if you don't buckle up after 13 rings, you're more likely to die from an accident. LOL.

Simple solution...just buckle up before starting the car. Driving without a seatbelt is well, simply idiotic.

The man even sits there and counts the number of rings too haha.

Yeah put on your seat belt. It's there to help you.

I buckle up after starting the car, force of habit, and would love to disable the rings/beeps to remind me... think this can be reprogrammed? Also the beep for the red screen showing on the dash, ie door open, needs to go, the visual warning is sufficient for me.

Same here -- I buckle up while the thing is ringing. I've gotten used to it, but never noticed it was 13 times though.

Yeah, I think it's not so much a ring, as some thing switching off -- I thought I've noticed that it occurs later when it's cold outside. Initially I thought it was some type of heater, but I've changed my mind since I hear it even in hot weather. Sort of a "ping" sound?

sticky fingers?

I thought this thread was perhaps about a failing (sticky) shock absorber or maybe removing the airbag warning stickers from the sunvisors...

....only to find that it's about superstition. Hmmm..

It probably can be reprogrammed...my car does not have the beep but that was how it was set at factory I think.

yes, it is more like a ping sound than a ring. sort of fades out instead of just turning off. i actually like it. not too loud to get annoyed, yet very intriguing that i concentrate on listening for it.

Just find the "beeper" (tiny "speaker") and unhook it. You may or may not get a trouble code. I doubt you would.

But I think the beeper is used for more than just seat belt reminder -- other messages, like headlights on, key left in, etc... Might want to keep it connected...

that's on my laundry list for the A service. I'm a habitual seatbelt wearer - I don't even drive around the parking lot without them on. But when I get in the car, the first thing I do is crank the engine, then fish for the belt, plug in the V1, etc... The warning beep makes my blood curdle. It's not even a pleasant chime like in a Buick (ick!). So I hope it can be disabled or I'll find a way to do it. I don't need to be reminded to wear my seatbelt, it's a habit.

Mine does not beep at all, unless you unlatch the belt with the car in motion, or unlock the wheel, etc..
The seat belt light flashes a few times on startup...then stays lit until you buckle up.
I'm wondering if the dealer turned it off, because my car was prepped for going into the showroom when it arrived...but never made it into there...I bought it
