2002 C230 Coupe
It would be close, with the edge going to the 323. I believe a 323 automatic does 0-60 in 7.1 - 7.4 seconds. The C230 Coupe automatic does 0-60 in 7.5 - 7.8 seconds. The BMW will have an advantage on the launch with the inline-6 (torquey motor) versus the C230 since you'll need to spool-up the supercharger to get boost. You may want to torque-brake the car to get the rear tires spinning and get yourself into boost at the line. (turn ESP off to do this.) Add an ASP pulley, and you're into the mid-to-high 6 second 0-60mph range and you should be able to walk the 323.
Please do this on a dragstrip if you and your friend do run against each other. Or better yet, don't do this at all since it really doesn't prove much.

Yeh, maybe not a 330 but I walk away from 323's.

C230 coupe, nothing special :)
I have the Kleemann pully on my car so its a lil different.. 323's 318 etc... They are not very fast, The only non M3 Bmw 3 series I would be worried about is the 330 xi . Those are the AWD BMW's with roughly 200bhp off the line they are going to take you but they die out of grunt @ about 100mph. Personally I dont think that 3 series are fast @ all. I would be more worried if I pulled up next to a mini cooper S than a super heavy BMW 3 series. Infact I have raced a mini cooper S and lost. It started @ about 70mph and I just couldent get infront of him, nearing 130mph I still couldent grab him even with the draft.
In my opinion the 3 series is a waste of time/money unless you purchase a M3, the 1 series offers a v6 twin turbo and is cheaper. Its the same thing with the C class, as soon as you buy a C230 SS, your like wow, I really should have tried to find a used C32 or a new C55.
Also , I think that your car will take the 323, but without a pully off the line is not how you want to start. I would suggest a 20mph roll.

Not sure about the weight, I know that the 3 series coupes are fairly heavy. What I am saying about he C class is that I would advise that if your intending on racing and such, I would purchase a C32 as opposed to a c230 coupe or sedan.

so that's good news.
I remember driving a 325i(MT), it's got a lot of torque even at low rev. (on second gear especially, maybe more than the coupe on 2nd)
but definitely 330 is out of reach.
