Yes, true true true.
Blake, glad to be the owner of your former hardware, but even sorrier after hanging the day to see you go.
Jordan, thanks for the burgers and cola.
We ended up finishing at around 6pm, and by the time it was all said and done, it was 6:30- 7pm.
Damn, I needed a margie, but not to be had anywhere near Firebaugh.
Thankfully my bro's at Palomar in Santa cruz accommodated, relieving the pain from my tired body.
Damn, you got the Brabus lip before I could even get a proper look!
Ah, that's the way it goes! I knew if I bought the lip, well I'd need to
have the lip AND bumper painted, and then all those chips on the hood,
hideous! So 1K-2K in paint later.........
It's all good.......
Pics soon!

LOL @ the thread title! Thanks again guys for making the drive and everyone helping out to get the parts swapped. Thanks to Jordan and his buddy for the burgers and soda. Thanks to Todd for making me get my hands dirty, but at least now I know how to rip the fender apart!

You've learned to crawl, don't try to run yet.

Well, if I could afford a new car in the ranks of what you're looking at,
I wouldn't bother turning a wrench. It's just a matter of economy.
And I still love my car.
I did my 1st major repair at 19 on a Toyota 20R engine, replaced the head gasket. I had to buy tools to do the work as I didn't own any.
I went to the dealer and snuck into the service bays, and picked the mechanics heads as to what to do.
I was quite shocked when it started right up, as was my father.
Growing up, my dad's idea of "quality time" was me watching him tinker on the cars and hand him tools. I learned the proper names for tools pretty early on. I remember being about 9 or 10 and having him explain how an engine worked, and we built a bicycle from scratch when I was 7.
When I was 17 he helped me do my 1st brake job on a VW bug.
A little later on I became good friends with a Honda motorcycle mechanic, who taught me a lot, and then became quite good at working on my FIAT X19 as there weren't any people who knew how to work on them anyway, and the local club "FIAT America" was a great resource, lots of people who were expert on stuff to help. They'd have tech sessions at a shop, and you could fix anything you wanted, and the shop owner would sell you the parts, loan you his tools, and he'd go around and help each person, do this that, and then he'd make the rounds helping, giving instructions, and then letting you get to work.
I learned how to do the timing belt myself this way, and adjust valves in a
shim bucket type head, which is a PIA.
They'd have a keg of excellent local beer, and well...not likely anyone would do that these days.
Also, being a Field Service engineer on computer and electromechanical stuff I learned other types of valuable stuff, like how to trace things out in a wiring diagram etc, and dealing with bad contact issues in all sorts of things.
I never thought I'd be able to do jack on the Mercedes, but hanging in the forums has taught me a lot. Always a trick to doing stuff.
You find it's not that hard if you know what you're doing.
It's still held together with bolts and clips.
And thankfully Mercedes saw fit to release a service DVD.

Pics as requested. It's really the only view where you get a peak at everything, including the spoiler.

Makes me sad reading this thread. At the same time, I think it's a good move for ya Blakey!
