Engine Making a "whee" noise

hey all,

recently, the engine has been making a "wheeeeeee" sound on every cold start, and I have been monitoring this for about a week/two.

i found out that it is coming from this thing (see picture below)

WHAT is that thing? I misplaced my owners manual so I can't figure out what that is.

any clue?

It's your turbo pulley. The "whee" sound you are referring to is the result of the built-in blow-off valve. Man, I seriously wish I had that engine...and those rims....and that kit...and that exhaust...and.....

sounds like you have a guide pulley making that noise...not uncommon from my understanding...easy fix and as far as I know it's covered under warranty.

Hey, I expect questions like this from Newbies, but you?

No mercy.

The problem is likely the bearing in the pulley, not uncommon and not expensive if you DIY. Pull belt, pop off the front plastic cover with a screw driver, unscrew, install new, install belt.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

I think maybe the "weeeeeeeeeeeeee" sound was a gaseous emission not coming from the car. How's your diet?

I believe it's the idler pulley. I had the same issue with the similar wheee noise.
