New plugs and cleaned MAF-- NICE and EASY
Installed 4 new NGK iridium plugs and cleaned my MAF last night. Super, super easy. The car started much better and actually sounds quieter. I would recommend this to anyone. It is so easy its a shame.

I believe CRC is the same brand that I buy at Lowes, although it's marketed as electrical contact cleaner there- which would more or less be the same thing. Main thing is to be sure it doesn't leave behind any kind of residue.

I agree that they should be more or less the same. However, When I looked at a can of the electrical contact cleaner at Kragen it said on the can "DO NOT USE ON MAF" Maybe this formula had some oils or other additives in it.

haven't done it on the benz yet, as the car only has 4k miles. i've done it on my focus for 150k+ miles and it's going strong. kinda curious what the difference is.

As to photo by photo DIY, I posted a photo by photo oil change on this forum. It's always easy if one has the knowledge. I think a photo by photo post will help a beginner or people who knows how to wrench but first time doing it on this car greatly. It cuts down on first time learning or guessing which screw to remove or tool to use. My $0.02

Is it necessary to change the spark plugs at 29k miles?

Had some issues this weekend and couldnt do the write-up. I will see about tonight or tommorow.
As for question1, I believe neccessary as the car was being a little sluggish at start-up. New plugs cured that very quickly.
Question2- yes it will be photo by photo--- stay tuned.

I assume you went with 2 steps cooler plugs in anticipation of installing your ASP pulley?
NGK Iridium BCPR7EIX-11 (5691) 2 steps Cooler Plugs

Hmmm...just curious...can someone explain what a cooler spark plug would do? And what is a "step" considered? Also, if I went to a cooler spark plug...would I have any benefits (even if I wasn't considering doing pulley's)?

Yes those are the ones I installed. Waiting on a response from ASP now to get my pulley. I have called and emailed with no response yet.

And FYI- Plugs should be changed every 60K miles assuming you have stock or the iridium tipped ones. Wait till 100K miles like Benz suggests they'll just be down to nubs, and your car will be running like crap, and you'll not be running at peak efficiency. All this has been covered many times around here.
SEARCH.

Arrgh! The website is dead!!!!
What # did you call?
" Their number is 1.877.928.8678. Lee is my contact there." (From original pulley thread),
If you sent email to anything with aspracing.com in it, it's unlikely it got through.
I just called the above # is good, they just forgot to pay the reup fee for the domain. DOH!
Put that order in!!!!!
Who's gonna do the install? I wouldn't trust just anyone.
You gotta line it up right, and torque it down hard!
