Help: something stopping car from moving

Today when I went to drive the car, I started the car as normal, put in reverse, and I was able to go about 2 inches before some thing stopped the car. I checked to see if there were any obstructions behind the wheels but there wasnt. I put the car into neutral and the same thing happens - I can push it about 2 inches either direction and the wheels lock up. When I try to move the car with the engine, the rear of the vehicle seems to raise about half an inch. I didn't put any extra gas out of fear of breaking something because it really feels like there is some block on the rear part of the transmission. Parking brake is off, transmission is manual. I'm getting real scared now, bought the car a few weeks ago and everything is fine until now. I don't know if there is some towing lock or something that is engaged or what not. By the way, the car will shift fine, clutch fine, the car will move normally, but only until it gets stopped. Please help if you can. Thanks.

You don't have a steel spare wheel on the back I presume? People endlessly put the spare on the car with mag wheel bolts which are too long and seize up a back wheel. Shorter bolts are supplied for use with steel spare wheels

The good news is that if the back of the car raises under throttle, then the transmission works fine and so does the differential. Something is jammed at the wheel/parking brake. I'd take the rear wheels off and have a look.

Check to see if you have a modded Civic stuck under there.

If it's only happening in reverse, the diff may need replacement. How many miles on the car? Ever replace the diff fluid?
