2004 C230 NAV ?
I have an '04 C230 coming in next week. It has OEM nav in it but I'm not sure about a few things.
1. Do I need to bring it to he dealer to update software before updating the maps?
2. Can I install maps of different years together, say I find a 2007 map with the eastern US and a 2008 map of western US, can I install both or do they all have to be the same year?

I believe the MY01 software is the latest software for the 203 CD-rom comands.
As for nav.discs: there are 10 or 11 discs that cover the USA / Canada. It doesn't really matter what 'year' the maps are, as long as you make sure to:
* purchase an original navigation disc (copies can severely damage the nav.drive)
* purchase nav.discs that are compatible with DX comands

Software is upgraded from Nav CD's. So if you insert a NYC area CD for 2002 and then insert a California CD for 2004 it will take longer to load as it is upgrading the software. Then if you go back to the 2002 NYC CD it will downgrade the software and take longer again. You can get the latest version for the entire country from your dealer, list price is about $300. Don't know what year the latest is, keep us posted if you find out. Last one I've seen was for 2005.
