Memory Seats are Possessed
I've search the forum and I've read and re-read the owner's manual over and over again and I'm convinced that the memory seats on my car are possessed.
When I put my key in the ignition my seat changes positions 3 out of 5 times when I get into my car. The setting is always on 1 which is programed for me. I have to re-position it practically every time I get into the car. I press the memory button a few seconds then the other button for a few seconds. Something odd is happening......it either repositions itself for someone very tall (seat all the way back) or up so close that my knees are practically hitting the sterring wheel.
I don't know what the heck is going on....anyone have any suggestions?
Thanx!

move the seat all the way foward and all the way backward...at least i think that's how it went.
but i doubt that's the issue. unplug the wires under the seat and plug it back in and see if that resets it. if not...go to the dealer. you should still have your warranty.

A friend of mine at work did what you suggested. Unplugged the wires and replugged them in again. Set the seat all the way forward then all the way back. I set the seat position to my liking and pushed the buttons again. Got out then got back in again and it was perfect.
I figured I'd do it a couple more times to be on the safe side and sure enough the 6th time I did it, the stupid thing freaked out again and pushed me all the way up to the steering wheel
I called my SA and he said that he doesn't think he'll have a loaner for me when I bring it in......I'm really pissed right now.

Do you only use one key in your car? I used my wife's key in mine the other day and the seat moved all around. There is a setting in the main menu for key-dependent settings. These appear to override the 1/2/3 settings, though I merely pushed the memory button in position one and everything moved back into position.

on the serious note. its probably some sort of setting malfunction, does your mirrors move too? or its just the seat?

advans, the mirrors don't move, just the seat/headrest and the steering wheel. When I went to get in the car last night the whole seat moved so close to the steering wheel that my knees were practically up to my boobies.

Could it be that my key is malfunctioning?

You can turn off the key dependent settings. Using the steering wheel controls go to Settings->Convenience->Key Depending Settings and select off and see if that helps any. That stopped the possessed seat and steering wheel in my car.

I kinda like that idea turning the whole thing off all together. But, wait, if I do that can I manually reposition the seat if I need to change it?

Funny you should bring this up (very, very funny by the way) the last movie -The Spy who Shagged Me is one of my husband's favorite movies - he worked on it as well.

Yes, all manual adjustments and use of the memory seat settings (1, 2, 3) are unaffected. The only thing that changes is that the key doesn't set off an attempt at killing the "twins" when you use it.
