head unit problems

Last night I was trying to install the high/low converter, i think thats what its called. Where you splice in rca's into the left/right speaker wires behind the head unit for an amp i bought. Well i had them all spliced in and soldered up, turned on the radio, no sound. So i went and took the splice off the ground, turned the head unit on, got sound. So i turned it back off and than reconnected the little ground wire from the high/low thing and than turned the unit back on and nothing. Hasnt worked since. The fuse isnt blown. What could have happened. Im going to look at it some more after work. I'll come here before i go start on it again, but im guessing ill have to take it in to mercedes dealer and have them bench test it or something if i cant figure it out. Any ideas guys? Thanks!!

Its a 2004 c230k...

What color of wires are the ones you spliced in to? Is the amp for bass only?

I found a wiring diagram of the wires that come out of the head unit on here, So i know i spliced into the right wires. The ground wire/splice seems to be the issue. The amp will be for the subs only yes... Its really annoying b/c i have the entire right side of my car apart right now, and would like to get it back together. The ground wire is brown. thats what the diagram said. I think im going to just cut all the wires in that connector off, and recrimp the little ends that attached to the head unit pins. And see how that goes. b/c i kinda messed that ground up a bit. I called mercedes and they said it has to be in the car and **** for them to test it. I just dont understand what happened, if you read what i said before about the ground wire and splice.. The fuse isnt blown... UGH...

I just talked to a local audio guy. He said in those cars they sometimes have 3 or 4 other fused related to the head unit. He said one of those other ones prob blew. I checked all the other fuses in the trunk. Are those plastic relay looking things back there related to the head unit? Or what fuses are? Thanks....

There should be a map of the fuse locations in the fuse box to the left of your dash when you have the door open. It will have everything marked, unless yours didn't come with a map like mine didn't. Gotta love MB quality control.
