AVOID HANDHELD CELLULAR
Your solution seems the cheapest and neatest for a 2003 c230k.
Thanks

I'm surprised NOBODY has suggested the ARGOS Bluetooth unit. I have this and it's by FAR the single most useful mod in my car, even more so than my bi-xenons.

For 2001-2004 you need an Argos MB-1. For 2005+ it's the Plaintalk. Personally I have the Argos MB-1 as my car is 2003.
Pros:
-uses factory microphone, steering wheel buttons
-enables your radio number keypad!
-can do DTMF (touch-tone) tones, so you can check your voicemail, navigate menus, and enter your unlock code.
-true 100% integration. ABSOLUTELY NO CUTTING/SPLICING OF WIRES. I read somewhere that no other system in the world (other than maybe OEM) can match this puck in terms of function/ability, and I believe it.
-names/numbers also show up in instrument cluster display! WOW factor. (you need Caller ID and/or BT PBAP profile though)
-names/numbers can be searched using radio keypad and arrow keys
-doesn't require the OEM phone kit to be installed. In fact, you need to disconnect/unplug it if you have it.
Cons:
-not cheap ($700USD new, but sometimes can be found on eBay)
-won't show signal strength on radio display, but I thought I read somewhere that the OEM Motorola BT puck can't either.
I'd highly recommend the installation of the OEM Voice Control (VCS) module as well if you get a BT setup. Why? Keep reading.
Pros:
-lets you dial names AND numbers by voice.
-stores names/numbers (50) and radio presets (10) for easy dialing.
-also lets you control RADIO/CD/TEL/NAVI and associated commands! (works for OEM radio and COMAND) Examples include swapping CD/tracks, and switching radio stations. I guarantee this will impress ALL of your friends AND your mother.

-relatively cheap (<$200 on eBay)
Cons:
-tricky to install, even with documentation provided. Expect at least 1-2h if you have never messed with the fibre-optic system in your car before. Not for the clueless.
-only 85-90% accurate (don't forget we're talking about pre-2001 technology for the D2B version); you do have to annunciate a bit
The Argos does let you dial using the built-in Voice Control from your phone (if your phone supports it) as well. Personally I find the OEM VCS to be superior to the one in my cell, but of course you may experience the opposite.
I don't know how good this unit is compared to OEM, but personally I'd be surprised if the OEM V60 cradle + BT puck is even 80% as good as this one. I can't praise the Argos enough.
If you don't use the OEM cradle, the RJ-50 plug inside your centre console can be freed up and wired to become a USB charger.
