AVOID HANDHELD CELLULAR

I HAVE A C230 KOMPRESSOR, 2003. NO BLUETOOTH EQUIPPED.
AS OF 7/1 CALIFORNIA REQUIRES NO HANDHELD CELLS.
WHAT IS THE BEST SOLUTION FOR THIS MODEL? DOES MB HAVE ANYTHING?
THANKS FOR THE HELP.

How about any old wireless, or wired for that matter, head set? As long as you're not HOLDING the phone to your ear, I assume you'd be fine. Does this new law specify it has to be integrated into the vehicle?

This is i think one of the best laws ever.. Im 20 and i talk on my cell a lot.. But its other ppl i worry about.
They do make a blue tooth for the car but it runs around 600-800 dollars.
Or you can just make it easy and get a 30-100 dollar blue tooth headset.

I drive a Toyota Hybrid...
for $20bux you can get a cell phone jammer, jam your phone signal then you won't received any more calls, then you can safely drive your car

Or for an absolute crazy price of FREE . . . you can leave your phone OFF while driving. But yeah there is a bluetooth contraption you can get for your car from MB, not sure if I would want to cough up $600-800 for it though. Just get a headset and call it a day.

As for this new no cell while driving law, I think its an awesome idea. It friggin peeves me off when people drive like idiots while on their cells.

This isnt the greatest solution but for those with AUX input this is what I've been using for hands free driving. I just need to find a better position for the mic. The best part about this is it's cheap and I don't have to worry about charging bluetooth headsets.

I was quoted $2400-$3000 from my stealership for parts & labor to have bluetooth intergrated into my car

Thanks but no thanks - I'll use my GPS which has bluetooth built in. I'll wait until I find something else that I'd rather use....I hate the "spock" looking earpiece.

Find a new dealer. Mine emailed all their customers, $399 for BT installed. The most talked about speakerphone is the Blueant Supertooth. I ordered one but Amazon is the worst place to order from. If you want their free shipping, the purposely hold up your order for a week even if it's in stock.

$400 if you have phone kit, $2400 if you are just "pre-wired." Stealership sells you the phone integration kit, then the bluetooth puck.

That's correct. Shop around every dealer seems to have completely different packaged price. For a "pre-wired" c230 my dealership wants $3430. An absolute joke!!!!

Their ridiculous sales pitch is "you would only have to pay for parts, installation is free".

OEM is the way to go. My BT module is inside the dash instead of the armrest compartment. I bought it for 140 total, and just plugged it in. Works with iphone.

I saw the "coupon" from MB of Laguna Niguel asked about it. When they ran my VIN # that's when they quoted me the $2400-$3000 price. Then I called my local dealreship and they quoted me the same price.

My car is only pre-wired.

Figured anything having to do with MB of Laguna Niguel service is a scam (except their car wash).

I've never had a problem with Amazon holding up an order when I have applied the free shipping. It may take a little longer than overnight but the last item I ordered arrived in less than a week.

I ordered it on Sunday. By Wednesday I called them and they told me that in their rules (and they maybe new rules), it says that orders will be shipped in 3-5 days when using the free supersaver shipping. This is so they can gather up orders and ship them all at once to save us money (never seen a company want to save us money, haha, it's so they can make more money). I called on Friday and said 5 days are up, why is it not shipped, no good answer. Then it shipped on Sunday, 7 days later. It's coming from Bell, CA, about an hour's drive from my house so expect it today but don't know. Amazon used to be better, more customer focused but that's changed from my experience with them. Also they are using parcel post, don't know of any online store using parcel post so there's no tracking. I hate buying stuff online without tracking. Yes, they use USPS comfirmation but that's not the same as tracking, it's more for them to make sure I got it.

What do you guys think of the new AVIC's. They all seem to have BT built in now. If a dealer charges over $2k might as well go for one of these.

Can you give me some more information on your BT setup?

Maybe a link or something?

Thanks
