The lip size on the Corsa in 3" in the rear. The first picture shows our older model which only had a 2" lip. The wagon shows the current setup

The pino has a 2.5" lip currently and will soon have a 3.5" lip with the same exact fitment.

Pricing and more info can be found here

Price cap on wheels? for C230

OK I am thinking of doing my summer makeover.
Just wondering what you guys think is a reasonable max price to spend on wheels for a C230? I love the highend HRE's, BBS, Brabus, Carlsson, OZ's but as you all know they can easily range from 2g's all the way up to 8g's but what do you think is the most that should be spent since it is only C230. I can justify spending 4g's and over on a C32 or C55. In my past JDM ricer days I have bought wheels that cost almost half of what the car was purchased for and some people thought I was out of my mind. I'm just wondering if I am going crazy or stupid since I am considering breaking the bank on my next set of wheels.

I got a very good set for $1600. Unless you just have to have top of line, I think 2Gs for wheels & tires would be max.

Mike,

Here's my justification, so hopefully it'll help you set a price range:

When I had my MX-6, by the time I had money to actually do some aftermarket modifications, the car wasn't worth much (KBB price was probably around $4,000). I knew there were a lot of problems, but I still wanted to fix it up nice while I could. I couldn't justify spending a lot of money on rims becasue I wasn't making much back then, so majority of the money I saved went into body work (engine tuning, aside from a JDM engine swap, for that car was pretty rare until about 1 year before I sold the car). When it came down to deciding on rims, I couldn't justify spending $3-6 G's on rims just cuz the car wasn't worth much, so I did some research and found the Velox rims (shown in my signature) for $1,400 wrapped w/ mounting/balancing of tires, installation and alignment.

Then, when the car (MX-6) was really on its last legs, I knew it was time to start shopping for a new car (and I had already been saving for a down payment on a C). Neither my credit, nor my cash flow was enough to land me a C32 (even a pre-owned one) and I really was set on getting a Midnight Blue Benz, so I decided on a C230 SS (even before I knew there were a few changes).

When I first purchased the car, I wasn't planning on doing ANYTHING to the car, just because I thought it already looked so nice! Then...the 2005's got released a couple months after I took delivery on my car. I wasn't happy at first, but then I found out that the 2005's no longer had free service. At that point, I had only done a few small modifications, but since I knew I would have free service for another 3 years, I figured that even though it wasn't a 32 or 55, it's still a Benz and even though it's one of the lowest models, I still LOVE the way the car looks and want to make it stand out even more!

$10K+ later, my car looks like it does now (and isn't gonna stop there). I also told myself that I wasn't gonna do any engine modifications (just to avoid the hassle of anything going wrong mechanically), but flip changed that with the Headers from CarLab (and future projects that they have planned).

So, the main point is that if you REALLY love the car, then rims are worth spending the money on as long as they are Exactly the rims that you want to complete the look of your car. Don't just decide on a "good deal/price", decide on everything else too (i.e. style, size, etc...). When I chose the OZ's, I was hesitant to do the color match, just thinking about the re-sale value, but then I realized that I probably will NEVER sell the wheels separately, so might as well go all-out. I'd say the gamble was worth it and it makes my car look very Unique (despite having the older sport body).

Another thing to consider is what your plans are for the car. Do you plan on keeping it a long time? Do you plan on keeping your original parts and selling the aftermarket parts when you're done with the car? Can you afford to get rims in the $3-8K range w/o setting yourself back financially?

A lot of factors, but in the end, all that matters is if it is justifiable in your eyese. What everybody else thinks is irrelevant at that point. If someone told me that I wasted money on my rims, it really wouldn't make a difference to me because I know how much I Love how they came out and look on the car.

Just to add - In my opinion, I wouldn't spend anything more than $1400-1500 on one piece rims (including tires) w/ tires (18's or 19's). The ONLY way I justify paying in the $2G-8G range is for multi-piece rims (whether I'm geting 18's or 19's).

LOL...Yup. My Director isn't in and I don't have final signature on contracts/money/etc..., so nothing can go out without her signature. Still have work, but it's mostly phone calls and checking #'s...haha. The beauty of being able to multi-task is great, especially when I can talk and type at the same time!

As for AIM, definitely can't get on there now, Blake. Server is slower from here than it was at our other location.

Thanks, Franky. BTW, Erwin loves the rims, bro! Thanks for hooking that up.

I was clowning him, cuz he was so anxious to get BMW center caps that will fit that he bought AC Schnitzer center caps (cuz they were the only ones that would fit the opening). I told him that if he does that, I'm renouncing his rights as my best friend and will never hook him up EVER again!...LOL. He ended up finding some BMW stickers that go flush on the center cap (better than nothing, I guess).

I guess Frank is asking too much for his 1pc Carlssons J/K I think its okay spending alot on one piece wheels i.e. Forged Renntech Monolites or Carlsson 1/16 UL's. I wouldn't mind have those 1pc wheels. So what if they have no rivets makes it easier to clean.

Yeah, but that's not really a fair comparison though because Benz Tuners are ALWAYS gonna be 2X's as expensive as other aftermarket manufacturers.

I don't think Frank is asking too much for the Carlsson's because they are genuine Carlssons and compared to what they cost retail, his asking price is actually very fair.

But...If I were to justify $3,000 - $4000 for rims w/ tires, I'd definitely want multi-piece rims. It's not just about the rivets, but also considering the price of repair (knock on wood) in the event anything happened to the rims.

I know it's actually a steal if those are the wheels you are looking for. I love the design. They look like old school super fins on steriods. Just too heavy for the little 1.8 engine that could.

Let your pocket book be your guide. There are great BBS rims and tires for 3k. If you can afford more and are not satisfied, then spend the extra cash. You only live once. If your budget doesn't allow, or you think your cash is better spent on other upgrades (such as a super charger), ASA uses BBS technology at a bargin price.

they are indeed a little heavy at 29lbs, but they are also damn strong lol. consider how much I paid for'em and how long I've used them with care. They're at a great price imo. lol Just a lot of people are looking for something with a lip these days.

Yeah, I will definitely. I'll actually hit him up at work today, so he can take pics in the garage.

Yeah, I was surprised that the clips were different also. He's not really into cars that much (which is why he asked me to find him some affordable rims), so he was just so anxious just to get something put on the center caps...LOL.

Ohhh, damn, dawg. I didn't know they were that heavy, bro!...LOL. My 'Leggera's are like 4 lbs. lighter per wheel and they're 3 piece (give a lb. or 2 cuz of paint). Either way, I still don't think you should mess up your theme...then again, for what you're getting next.

Wait a second, did you get them already? That's been a while already since you said they were going to be in.

Theirs a good side to Mercedes tuner wheels costing alot. How would you feel if you were at a stop light and a Civic pulls up with the same rims on your Benz?

Yeah, true. At the same time, if a Civic has the same rims that I have right now, I hope to God it's a damn nice Civic. A beat up Civic with OZ Superleggera III's just wouldn't make sense in my mind...LOL. If it were a really nice Civic with the same rims as me, I'd give him/her props. That's not very often, but I'll still give props.

I think that's why I'm not so keen on purchasing rims for lower amounts of $$$ unless they are really high quality company for the low amount of $$$.
