Question Thinking about purchasing '01-'05 C-Class

Hello there!

My Bimmer (2000 328Ci) got rear ended by a C32 AMG (caused by a taxi cab, which slammed into him pushing him into my rear end on the highway) so now its considered "totalled" due to the whole rear frame being damaged. I am now looking to get a used C-Class anywhere between 2001-05.

I am wondering what are the most common issues I should be looking out for in these models and what I should be expecting?

Thanks in advance!

It all depends on what engine you want to go for really.
If I was you, (this is my opinion) I wouldn't get any 4 cylinder models.
Go for one of the V6's

if you get one- go for the 2004.5+ models. far less problems and you get the amg cladding as well as larger brakes.

Mine has been flawless in reliability, it's a 2004.5. Avoid 2003 as they had head and radiator problems. 2001-2002 were first year cars and have problems specific to them. Mine is listed in the classified section but is a real good low mileage value and a manual trans which makes it more fun to drive (MB automatics have a lag to them that you may find annoying coming from BMW).

I really like my car. I have no experience with anything older, but mine is a 2005. I didn't buy it so that I can go fast, or drag race people. I got it because it looks good, and has great fuel economy. As far as looks + mpg, this car is really tough to beat. There are more efficient, and better looking, but not many that combine those traits.

If I could do it over again, I would absolutely buy my car again.

I bought mine because it's a handsome car that has a timeless design. Sure there are times I think about trading in for a 330i...but it would be too hard to pull the trigger.
