Why use MB Fleece filter!

Why use MB Fleece filter!
I dont know when was the last time this car had an oil change, but the oil was very dark. As I was unscrewing the oil filter, the "Paper" fell apart. These occurrence happens to many non Benz Fleece filter. This time i had a camera with me so i decided to take a pic. If the car had gone for another 2-3k, most of the filter would be recirculating inside the engine.

Buying the genuine MB oil filter is really cheap insurance against expensive engine problems. The genuine filter is only a few dollars more than aftermarket filters.
The aftermarket filter may be every bit as good as the MB oil filter; but you never know for sure. If the MB filter ever fails and causes engine damage, you have a valid warranty claim. If the aftermarket filter fails; well, you don't know. I am not willing to risk my engine.

I use OEM MB-Fleece oil filter, nothing else! There might be good filters out there but like mentioned before on the thread, if anything goes wrong, I have a leg to stand.

There isn't a fleece filter for the M111. I've looked.
Motioneffects, could you please tell us what brand filter that was?
I've used the MB ones, Hengst, and Mann.
All are paper and look about the same.
Currently I've got 2 Mann filters 'in stock'.
Using 1 today.
Here's the K&N filter for my car
http://www.partsamerica.com/productd...tNumber=HP7008
Looks the same.
Should I be worried?
What shop do you work for....or if you can't say, how about what city or state?
Thanks!

"MANN FILTER MADE IN GERMANY"
So I used it. Just open the box there and look.

I went to Advance Auto Parts recently in search of an oil filter. The only thing that they had was Puralator or something, their in store brand. I thought it was suspicious so I opened the box and took the filter out. Stamped on the filter in big bold letters it said:
"MANN FILTER MADE IN GERMANY"
"MANN FILTER MADE IN GERMANY"
Thanks !!
