LoJack is a rippoff. I heard that dealers get them for like $300 but sell them at like $1000. Besides, most installers just put them in one of a few common places so thieves can get rid of them pretty easily.

Lojacked

Lojack is a very good way to get a stolen car back fast. However, you have to weigh the cost against the odds the car getting stolen. Statistically, Honda Accords need Lojack more than any other because it is the most frequently stolen. I am sure very few Accords have Lojack, because of the cost. No Ferraris or Bentleys were stolen last year.

As some have mentioned, the BIG downfall of Lojack is that you (the car owner) has to call Lojack (the service provider) before the recovery effort begins. If you are away for the weekend, tough! Parked at work, the thieves get an eight-plus hour headstart. Great for carjacks but ultimately a flawed system.

Well I have LoJack on the car right now and I can say that the insurance savings are not significant. I got around 20 dollars a year discount on the total cost of my insurance which is around 830 dollars per year. So That's around a 2.4 percent savings on my insurance.

i don't know if this has been said, but i don't think it's worth it on a c-class unless you have mods that are worth more than a few thousand dollars... it's hard to steal a benz without a duplicate key, and the chances of them towing your car are unlikely... face it, the car isn't in high demand like an SL55, S55, or CL55 where LoJack is a must...

actually, lojack does not and cannot turn on the transmitter, it is turned on when a car is entered into NCIC as stolen. as for your head start on the theives, it odesnt matter if the car was say stolen in florida and is now in washington state, the LOJACK tracker in the local agencies car will pick it up. now if its in a shipping container gong overseas, then you are probably screwed. now if the price is not worth it to you then lok at it this way. if you spent lets say 750 dollars on it and kept your car 10 years, it would cost you 75 dollars a year, now if your insurance company gives you 20 a year discount then it really costs you 55 a year divided by 12 months, is roughly 5 dollars a month for the possible rcovery of your car. oh well ill quit rambling now.
