actually, lojack does not and cannot turn on the transmitter, it is turned on when a car is entered into NCIC as stolen. as for your head start on the theives, it odesnt matter if the car was say stolen in florida and is now in washington state, the LOJACK tracker in the local agencies car will pick it up. now if its in a shipping container gong overseas, then you are probably screwed. now if the price is not worth it to you then lok at it this way. if you spent lets say 750 dollars on it and kept your car 10 years, it would cost you 75 dollars a year, now if your insurance company gives you 20 a year discount then it really costs you 55 a year divided by 12 months, is roughly 5 dollars a month for the possible rcovery of your car. oh well ill quit rambling now.
