Hi Guys,
This afternoon I visualized myself writing a different kind of post. Today I received my '05 C230 (I bought it in July, from San Jose, CA but I had to ship it down here to South America and I had to wait 4 long months to see it) IMAGINE THE EXCITEMENT!
Anyways, the car is pristine. Just a few VERY MINOR details here and there which I'll share with you in future post, but right now I can't shake the feeling that I screwed up.
The Audio/Radio had this plastic protector thing on it, partially attached to the screen (you know when you buy an iPhone or any other piece of equipment with a screen and it comes with a plastic protector on it?) which I'm not sure whether its there and the previous owner didn't touch it OR if at the dealer they put it for whatever weird reason previous to make the sell (if anybody here bought a brand new 'cedes, maybe you can enlighten me), SO WHAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO? Leave the thing partially attached? Course not, I tried to take it away, and it broke. The plastic protector broke, and the rest of it, is almost SEALED to the screen.
(check the attachment)
Anybody went through this? I tried removing it with my nails, it's virtually impossible, it almost look and feels like it was crazy-glued on the screen. I also tried with Windex with no luck and now I'm flirting with the idea of using a blow dryer, not sure if that's a good idea.
What sucks is that, while it's a minor cosmetic detail, judging from the appearance of it looks worse than it actually is.
What do you guys think I should do?

Did you try a razor blade. Of course be very careful and use light pressure so it doesn't gouge the plastic.
Ok, I tried with the blow dryer. NADA. Will try goo gone and razor blade now

I'd say you should make the San Jose people pay to get the used one sold on here, if you can't fix yours.

help us out here guys: what is a fair price for my stock unit??
neither one of us have any idea. i am guessing it should be less than the cost of getting something aftermarket, but then again i dont know since its a stock MB part and would look better than a single din cd player.
any input would be greatly appreciated.
