xenons vs halogens

This is a picture taken tonight of my C230 and my buds Eclipse. I have the Eurolite xenons and he has regular bulbs. Before you start saying that fake xenons are crap just let me say that with the paycheck tomorrow I have enough for the Stage II xenons from hid4less.com. But I do think that the fake xenons I have are brighter and look better than his regular bulbs.
What do you think?

use photoshop to resize the image. i can't see it.

i should say, use some sort of photo editing software (not necessarily photoshop). i think even ACDSee has a resize function.

You can't look at the page, it claims you exceeded something. Try posting photo here.

It is impossible for fake HID's to be brighter than Halogens of the same wattage. They are dimmer. Fake HID's are halogens with much of the light spectrum filtered out. The only way to make fake HID's brighter is to use much higher wattage bulbs, and then you risk melting the headlight housings and or shorting the wiring and possibly setting your car on fire.

black on black 2k2-230k auto/c1/c5/c7/k2c/COMAND/TELEAID/Stage II HIDS
your fake hids look very nice, and hid like, but no matter how good they look i couldnt live with myself.

i definitely will pick up a retrofit complete hid kit when it becomes available

I got my paycheck today so I only need one more to get the hid4less.com stage II kit for low beams. I don't really think its worth it to get high beams also.

I have never heard of HID high beams. All the cars I have seen with HID's are low beams only. Do they really exist?

oh yes, bi-level xenons are low and high beams. i think that's why the oem kits cost twice as much as other kits.

also, my understanding is that all aftermarket HIDs and OEM HIDs are illegal unless installed at the factory. not even the dealership counts. hence the 'only for off-road use'. of course, the chances that a cop is going to know is pretty much nil... but you never know that you may meet a MyCousinVinny'sGirlfriend who knows the 2002 coupé didn't come w/ HIDs...

my bmw only has low beam HIDs, but the 2002 models have bi-levels.

btw, timmy, are those fake HIDS (blue bulbs) or are they Philips Vision Plus bulbs?

Thanks young. I didn't know that was what "bi-level" meant. I think the VisionPlus bulbs are in my car's future. I would only consider oem HID's, and I would rather spend that money on things such as the Kleemann pulley kit, Upsolute chip, etc.

YOUNG : Those bulbs are Eurolite xenon fusion bulbs. They do have a blue tint to them.

Vince: I already know the quality of the hid4less bulbs. They come with a 5 year warrenty on the bulbs and the ballast, even if YOU screw it up!

CW203: Yes the cars computer WILL see the bulb as burnt out, thats another reason that I prepher the hid4less bulbs, they come with a special connector that has a resister in the wireing harrness that will "fool" the car into thinking the xenons are regular bulbs.

Since I live in the city where highbeam usage is pretty much minimal at best, I will keep the fakies in. Yeah after seeing the results of the upsolute chip upgrade I hink i will do that instead of the HIDs. The national distributer for upsolute is only about 15 miles from me. He said it will take about an hour to install or de-install. That you will lose about 1mpg (no big deal to me), and it will be invisible to the service diagnostic tools at the dealership.
I can't wait to get mine!

Timmy--

ANY halogen bulb with the word "xenon" attached to its designation is a bogus. Let alone blue coating... What you mean by their being "brighter" is perceived brighness. They have a destinctive blue tint, and in your mind "blue" is already associated with "brighter". Even the photo you posted doesn't show anything else. The only way to be objective here would be to perform luminosity measurements, NOT ONLY in the hot spot, but aggregately (which is another issue that helps fakers sell their products).

VADIM: So from a luminosity stand-point they may not be brighter. BUT, I see better with them and I like the look alot better too, I have no doubt that they are fake xenons thats why I refer to them as fakies, but in my opinion they are brighter. And I like them better. And thats why i bought them.

That would be against the laws of physics, but if you feel that way, I guess it's fine.

Hey Bagwell!

Thanks alot. Those bulbs do look pretty good don't they, especially with the ultimate mercedes color. They realy light up the road and the street signs. When you are going down a dark road with no street lights but the little lane reflectors you can see great. I know that they are not by any means as bright as real xenons but they still look better than regular bulbs do.

its kinda funny. i was thinking about that guy who publishes the newsletter on mbs and his tech info is quite interesting. like chroming wheels making them brittle hence mb never chroming their wheels. but he puts in some stuff about the greenhouse effect not being real despite overwhelming worldwide evidence...

btw, anonymous, that was me.

oh, i'm commenting on benzo's quote. i am offering an example of pigheadedness despite overwhelming proof otherwise.

no, i'm not calling you pigheaded. i'm just commenting on the phenomenon that benzo's quote describes. its kinda off topic.

I am not stating my personal feelings on the greenhouse effect, but there is a strong group of scientists out there that do not believe it exists, they support there position with past temp. changes that have occured on earth before man and polution.
