so the question is, if i straight pipe my 2005 c230k ss, will i gain more power and or torque, and if i do in fact straight pipe it, should it be from the cats, or headers, im in a confusion hole. i was hoping some one can bail me out with some words of advice and sense.

I assume your talking about deleting everything but still having a muffler though or are you going to straight pipe it w/o a muffler like an old Chevy muscle car?

i was thinking have a muffler, maybe a magnaflow, because im on sort of a budget, with the economy the way it is, but i was looking for some relatively inexpensive mods, that would provide power and sound, right now i rev the engine and i can barley hear it. im not looking for much, but i hate being slower than most SUVs. i was told straight pipe was the way to go. im not too sure if he was correct or not.

You should just remove your resonator and install a magnaflow and you will be happy with the sound and the most expensive thing would be the exhaust and if you can weld than your golden.

is it really $2k fine, how would they no if i have no cat., do cops actually pull people over and check if there is a cat. or not. and around how much would it cost to delete the cat. and get new mufflers? and would that actually do anything for my performance? if so wat kind of difference would it make in hp and torque?

cop doesn't have to prove you have a cat or not. He can just write you a ref ticket and you have to go to the state ref to prove whether you are in violation or not. The cars also a lot louder with no cat, even with the muffler.

up to you, just wanted you to be aware of it. You'll probably see more gains if you just save for a supercharger pulley or crank pulley.

yea but supercharger pulleys run around $2,000.00 and im still payin off the car, i was just lookin for somthin not that expensive right now. i will in the future go for those pulleys but nows not the best time for me. so the question i still have is that if i remove the cat. and add get a new muffler will i gain any hp and/or torque from it?

Sure you will. But I doubt much. Probably not enough to feel. Then again I can't talk from experience because I've never done it. Lets see what others have to say...

Also I don't think a new supercharger pulley would cost much money. Certainly not thousands of dollars.

holy crap i didnt know it was that much for the c230. the super charger pulley for my c32 was only $650. Maybe its time to talk to code3 about making a supercharger pulley for c230.

Not sure..given the engine is only a 1.8L, i doubt it would add much hp.

You should PM drexappeal..since he has a modded c230.

Here's a thread briefly talking about mods to the c230

i went looked at the thread bout how much hp u can put in c230k. it helped me alot, but nobody has posted on it since jan. and idk if any1 is gona post anytime soon, but ill talk to those ppl and see whats up, btw where did u get those supercharger pulleys from for 650, and what brand are they, i was aware that evosport is 2,000 and kleeman is even more rediculous. if it was 650 for the c32 i wonder if they have at least the same price for the c230k, there both w203 but so maybe it will be the same fitting. but if u can give me the number or email adress of the people that u bought ur pulleys from i might go and give them a visit or contact them about getting some for my car.

The pulleys are made by code3 performance. There have a lot of posts on the c32 forum. The superchargers between the c32 and c230 are completely different, so it wouldnt work on your c230.

I would try evosport since there in oc as well. You can try kleeman..there having a 50% off sale until dec 31.
