Why on Earth would anyone do something so unbelievably stupid?!
You get less HP (no backpressure!!) , your car sounds horrible inside and out, gives you a headache, you break emissions laws, sound laws, and worse of all sound like a rice-mobile. What exactly is the benefit?!

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I can understand getting an aftermarket muffler to add a little sound, but I hate it when people go overboard and the car sounds like crap.

I didn't get it straightpiped, but I had RENNtech put some new tips on my Black Series when they were doing work to it and it now it sounds much louder. I make car alarms go off all the time when I rev it. I'll put up a video of the car as soon as I get it back because it's currently at my dealership getting fixed from an accident (an M5 lost control while racing and hit me). It's taking a while because they had to order new parts from Germany but I'm expecting it to be ready by January. I have pics of the car stock when I first got it in my album, but I'm going to upload the new pics of the car with the RENNtech upgrades and body work as soon as I get it back.

uhh no you are wrong. straight pipe lowers backpressure which lowers torque and raises HP. i read it on a Dinan website about a muffler they offered which lowers backpressure. it CLEARLY states HP is increased while torque decreased

tips won't do anything with sound, he must have deleted the resonator or a cat to get a louder noise.

Yeah +1 on straight piping just to get noise out of it being unnecessary, not unless there are more mods you are considering on doing to your engine.

LOOK at the Dinan article URL:

they developed a 335 exhaust that LOWERS backpressure and increases HP output. LEARN IT. lower backpressure RAISES HP.

people will rather believe Dinan than you, some random kid on the internet.

None of my cars have mufflers.

They’re all straight-piped. You’ll love it!

that's what i had thought in my head at first when i heard it, but the only thing the guy mentioned to me about the exhaust upgrades were the tips. And he didn't even mention anything about removing the resonator or cats on the invoice which I'm sure they would of charged me if they did. But either way I don't really care because I was very happy with the results and it sounds much meaner than stock. I'm going to make a video as soon as I get it back and post it on my page.

HAHA you think because they say that it must be true? On MANY / MOST modern engines you actually LOSE HP if there isn't enough back pressure. On a vehicle with a restrictive exhaust an upgrade will of course give you more HP. But what you are doing is removing the entire exhaust system and leaving the engine with no back pressure. On top of that, why would you want your car to be THAT loud? I would get a headache from driving a car like that.

have you heard the C63 or any other AMG? they ALL sound loud and "annoying" because of their less restrictive exhaust. if your an old woman i can understand that loud noises annoy you. but i would rather have my benz sound like Bernd Schneider's W204 DTM race car than a "silent" old man's benz. do DTM benzes have mufflers, resonators, or cats? (you probably have no clue what DTM is)

hmmmm let me think...............................NO. NO. NO.

plus i told you already. Dinan is a famous BMW tuner like Brabus is for mercedes. So, YES i do believe them. if Brabus wrote that article i would STILL believe them because they develop those mufflers and do the research and tests. they found out that:

1.make a less restrictive exhaust
2.increase airflow and decrease backpressure
3.increase HP power output and the drawback of torque

Wow you have some serious issues. For one thing, I never argued that a less restrictive exhaust doesn't give you power gains. Secondly, I never said a C63 was loud or annoying. A C63 is the kind of exhaust sound that is perfect. You asked about STRAIGHT PIPES. Do you have any idea what you're talking about? Sure doesn't seem like you do. I won't be posting any more replies to you because obviously were not going anywhere positive with this.

Yes I know DINAN is a well known BMW performance producer and some models like the M3 have a DINAN model with the exhaust already installed stock. Oh and fyi DTM means Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft. Do you think before you speak, NO NO NO.

wow you read one article about exhausts from a tuner trying to sell more exhausts and you think your a expert?

Do you even know how horsepower is calculated?

horsepower = rpm x torque / 5252

He can't increase horsepower if you lower torque unless you increase your rev's.

Also if you want to relieve back pressure so much why not just run open header? That costs you nothing.

Do you know when you increase your exhaust size you lose air velocity. Lost of air velocity causes a lost in low end torque in NA cars.

Turbo cars have too much backpressure due to the exhaust running the turbo..hence why they benefit from larger exhausts. NA cars benefit from larger exhausts to a certain point, then they start losing power from the lost of velocity.

I really doubt your 63. You should go back to reading motor trend and come back when you turn 14.
